@A-Team, not to say I told you ... there is no serious plan to receive the Afghan refugees.

Article here, excerpts below:

Afghanistan may soon experience a serious humanitarian crisis, as some 600,000 refugees are expected to return by year’s end from neighboring Pakistan, where they are facing increasing pressure, the International Organization for Migration warned.

...

“We cannot overestimate the seriousness of this situation,” IOM Chief of Mission and Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Laurence Hart, said this week. “The situation is dire and we expect it to become far worse as winter approaches.”

Well, there always comes a time when one has to leave. This is the time for Afghan refugees. We have hosted them for decades. We have done our bit. It is now up to the Afghan government to take care of their citizens and that is not an unreasonable demand.

Remember the we eat the grass argument, there is plenty of it in Afghanistan ;)

But hey at least you got corrected on one account, the refugees are coming home, but this article is kinda over blowing it. There is an emergency task force in place and most of the returnees are being assisted.

Pakistan had been a safe haven for hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees since the 1980s, when Afghanistan was invaded by the Soviet Union. There are about 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees living in Pakistan, and an estimated one million illegal immigrants.

Islamabad has recently begun enforcing long-ignored rules limiting the freedoms of refugees, including prohibitions on living outside of designated camps, running a business, or owning real estate, the Economist reported. The bank accounts of refugees, as well as their mobile phone SIM-cards, are being shut down. Starting in mid-November, Afghans wishing to remain in Pakistan are expected to get visas.

“We cannot overestimate the seriousness of this situation,” IOM Chief of Mission and Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Laurence Hart, said this week. “The situation is dire and we expect it to become far worse as winter approaches.”

Afghanistan remains in turmoil, as the US-backed government in Kabul has been unable to take full control of the country and is constantly challenged by the militant Taliban movement.

Its not the sub continent's culture to tell a guest to leave. Being a refugee is not a choice and I hope these refugees will continue to be under care of UNHCR even after they have returned to their country until they are rehabilitated.

You are free to invite them in India, They will happily come. Win-Win for all.

Yes but for what? Pakistanis ate grass for developing a nuclear device -- what are Afghans eating grass for: putting an Afghan on the moon. Have you heard of the expression: cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Yes and Ghani sab is about to appoint two committees too and increase the staff of the emergency task force from 5 to 6 people. Come on get serious.

Show me how many of these people are being given land -- what is the legal framework behind that. The previous returnees from about a decade (the poorer ones) have been left to rot on the outskirts of Kabul and these people are going to get any assistance ... let's get real.

Since india and her people are known for hospitality (LOL - pun intended).. India should open her borders and take a few million refugees from Pak... After all Pak is so evil.. The evil nation is the worlds largest refugee hosting nation.... And that too from hostile nations...

So show us the big heart...

Sad that your own countrymen don't even consider you human ... As I just witnessed in another thread.

Isn't she (@Razia Sultana ) the one who accused the Pakistani media of trumpeting up the charges against Modi -- lol

I thought Pakistanis suffered from irrational Patriotism but a more virulent strain seems to have taken hold of our Indian brothers ever since Modi came to office :-/
