I guess my point is what is that the mess you see in Pakistan is direct result of desi culture of the awaam. As long as that persists garbage, filth, poverty, laziness, disorder, bankruptcy will stalk the land. It is as simple as that.

After all if you brought 200 million Americans, Japanese, Germans or Chinese to Pakistan and shifted our awaam out to those countries Pakistan would look like America, Japan, China, Germany within a generatioin.

And those counries recieving 200 million pious would be replicas of the mess you have in Pakistan today. This is all about state of the mind.

You know this is no rocket science. This is as obvious as anything. But accepting this is another matter. Not a fcukin chance. Honestly last year walking about in Turkey after having come from Pakistan this fact was smacking me in the face. Turks are also Muslim. But their society has literally transformed by taking in European ideas - although I think we should not call them European or Western anymore because permuations of these are now found in Tokyo, Japan, Singapore, Shangai, China etc I guess we should call them "Modern idea" today.

Pakistan does not have to re-invent the whell. Just bloody adopt it and give it our own Pakistani twist to it.

Elegantly stated, hopefully with posts like these I can inspire Pakistanis on this forum.

Let me give you a little anecdote from my past. When I was a poor student back in 1980s I lived in a cheap, dodgy part of Birmingham. Behind the row of terrace houses was land with a narrow street which was unadopted. Thus the council never street cleaning team never went there. It always had rubbish and litter flying about. Because it was lonely fly tippers dumped rubbish there. One day I got a knock and it was a old English lady. She told me she lived few houses down the street and she was looking for volunteers to clean the land at the back the following Sunday. She was knocking at every door. I tried to be a Pak* about it and said I was busy etc. After she left I felt a bit bad. Come next Sunday I loot out of my bedroom window and I see the old lady with bag surrounded by other - all English going around and collecting the rubbish. Feeling guilty I went out and volunteered. After we finished she came over and thanked me.

The fact was why was she thanking me? I lived there as well. It is people like with sense of civic duty who make nations. Enough of them and you get United States of America or Japan.

But I did used to get apna coming around trying to cleect money for some new masjid some place, some town and saying I will have ten boys, go to paradise etc

We need to learn from successful nations and adopt their habits and way of thinking which have propelled them to greatness.
