Not sure if this is a banned topic or not, similar threads were closed before:

But this thread is regarding the current political situation in Bangladesh, where this issue of atheism was thrust to political forefront, because of atheist bloggers involvement with the Shahbag "movement".

In Bangladesh we see mainly two kinds of atheists:

1. Those who attack Islam openly such as atheist bloggers, who have been indoctrinated by materials from Islamophobia Industry associated websites and memes

2. Those who deal with atheism as a personal matter and choice and do not attack Islam using anti-Islam ideas and memes, examples are people like Farhad Mazhar, who admits his atheism, but supports religious people and religiosity and do outstanding social work for the country, as a responsible citizen

One Awami League supporter here was trying to use Farhad Mazhar's example and imply that all atheists are same and should be treated the same. Do Bangladeshi Muslims believe this is true and if not, why?

Atheist should be jailed, they try to insult islam and the prophet (pbuh)

What is your problem??Being an Athiest is not a crime. You sound like those Nazis who once asked how should we deal with the Jews??

Lol,some of the great men of human history were all atheists.Atheism fuels self sufficiency and independent thought,as long as they don't bother u why u bothering them.If a god has to persecute people to convince them, then he's no god at all.

The punishment of apostasy is death. Murtids are wajib-ul-qatal.

LOL,All major Religions deserved to be insulted for the countless crimes they have committed on the mankind through out the history. No religion or any form of political ideology is not outside the realm of criticism. If they think otherwise they are fascists.

Islam itself protects Non Muslims. I guess from atheist you do not mean apostate, because for apostate there are different rulings from different scholars. Whosoever is insulting Islam should be punished BUT spare the questioners whether they are satisfied or not with the answers given to them.
