How Modi can strengthen India against China, Pakistan

China was a $1.64 trillion economy in 2003, she has come close to a $10 trillion economy with just 3 years of double digit growth, you are just overrating China.

that's 11 years of 9-10% growth rate.....which is exceptional.... china has redefined economic models...... through its journey of economic development... so china is not overrated, it has set a new benchmark in economic growth... here its not about economy, its about indigenous defence.... which is not achieved through TOT but by spending on R&D, takes precious time.... and needs government support and will....

Neither China's economic model is unique, nor such growth happened for the first time in history, come out of myths. And China is yet to produce anything groundbreaking in defence R&D.

Do you even logic? Going from a $1.64 trillion economy to $10 trillion in a decade is insane, which is a testament to the belief that India probably won't replicate it. The fact that China has done this doesn't mean it's performance has been overrated; it means it's probably been underrated. India isn't going to reach such growth rates, not to mention for the same period of time.

China's cumulative economy growth rate was some 15%-20% (GDP + currency appreciation + inflation) per annum for 35 years. India isn't going to reach that, especially when the rupee is fluctuating in negative range every year. For India to go from ~5% GDP growth to 10% GDP growth, AND rupee depreciation to 5%+ rupee appreciation, AND to do so for 35 years, is, ummm, well the equivalent to impossible when it comes to India. And doing these all at the same time? Not going to happen. 200 countries, and it's only happened with China. Not going to happen to India.

And it's not like the world is going to be frozen in those 35 years anyway. China at 7% GDP + 2-3% Yuan appreciation + 2-3% inflation = 11-13% growth per annum. So over that time India will have narrowed China's lead, but by nowhere near as much as you people are thinking. And that's if this fantastical dream ever happens, which it won't. India should focus on surpassing countries like Japan and Germany. My estimate is that it could surpass Germany around 2040, but that it will NEVER surpass Japan (Japan's massive population decrease could change that).

You are only looking at some figures without going into the finer details, and don't try to predict the future in absolute terms, you will only fail. :)

I actually went into the finer details by looking at specific numbers, rather than make blanket statements about which country will surpass which on some obscure timescale.

Simple arithmetic suggests that India will have to growth at a total of 15-20% per annum for decades to surpass China. Considering the rupee's performance, I don't think India's net growth will ever hit more than 8% (other than the solitary year here and there).

Who told you that GDP growth is calculated by simple arithmetic of compounding YoY growth rate? Take the 2003 & 2014 GDP (Nominal) figures of China, and YoY real GDP growth rate for the same period, and try to do the simple arithmetic, let me know what figure you get...

Btw, do you have any idea where India's economy would be even if it grows at you suggested rate of 15-20% for just one decade?

India economy grew faster than it's dollar value in the last few years. In the dollar amount, it showed little growth because of depreciation of rupee. But in reality, Indian economy growed at a healthy rate.

Chinese economy grew slower than its dollar amount value because of yuan appreciation

All Indian leadership gotta do is put more focus on Made in India and then Assembled in India.

You are right Chinese model, isn't the first, but that doesn't mean it's not impressive, Jordan scores 35 a game for most of his career, doesn't mean it hasn't been done before, but it's still very impressive.

We have elements of it that is unique and certain results that are unmatched, for example train infrastructure, the only nation that should be able to replicate our HSR building speed probably won't do it, and etc etc.

This is what I always say to Indians, look at your own defense industry. You might take this as a attack or a comparison, it's not.

I'm simply saying look at how difficult building a Tejas, Kolkata, Kavari, Arjun, LCH, and more and all of that. Look at the incredible difficulties India faces, we face those same things, if not more, cause we are also embargoed.

Then tell me if you think China did anything groundbreaking.

BTW, we also have tested the Hypersonic vehicle three times, so that's pretty groundbreaking as we are neck to neck with the Americans, and I know we are good, but stealing work that doesn't exist seems to be out of our reach. Unless we built a time machine and went into the future and stolen their designs.

Just because it's not flashy doesn't mean it's not great.

BTW, on topic, there's just one step, become close to China and US economically.

Like my main man Mayweather said, practice, when you practice, the fight is easy.

Really a long way to go. First India needs infrastructures. To build up enough infrastructure will take more than 20 years and even trillion-level dollars. Then India need to destroy her caste system to liberate those people and make them become workers. And what's more, stable policies. I really wonder Modi can do these.

There's no cast system in India its been barred long ago, it exists only in people's monds. to build the infrastructure 20 years?? are you crazy one or two term for the current regime is enough and after 5 years economy would be in boost.

ya that's the only problem, the reason why China is successful is because whatever CCP wants can be implemented without a questions from opposition or fro people, but for us its simply a BIG NO. but with BJP forming a government on its own with majority of seats i couldn't give a little trust that at least half of the planed projects can be implemented.

Hahha :lol::lol::lol: good one.

The elephant will show the dragon its muscle!

Idiot... How long you are going to repeat the same sentence????

FYI there's no such thing as Dragon it only exists in Chinese Minds of dreams

i would be more glad if modi think to strengthen ties between Pakistan , China and India .. and play his role in making this region peaceful

For that Pakistan civilian government should have the complete control of both Pakistan Military and the foreign policy.

Industrialization is the first step to acheiving any kind of realistic armament R & D and production. Just look at how the US did it during WWII & how it propelled the country into the leadership position it has today. Other countries like Germany, Japan, etc, also go through the same path.

India has the human resource to do it, but managing them need powerful motivating factor, such as a historical event like WWII that drive the US to develop hard & fast, or focus leadership during peace time, like the CCP to set it straight.

It's certainly a vision and an idea. And like any fighter planes made in India, it will take a long time to make it real. No one can dispute that. As for the leader with vision, his vision is an India clear of non Hindu Indians, where the Dalits and the tribals are put in their place under the forward caste's feet.

Not the caste system is being destroyed, but the rights of none Hindi are gradually taken away. Remember that India will be a Hindi nation.
:hitwall: I think you mean Hindu nation
