I've seen hardcore interiors of Delhi, Kolkota muslim areas, Delhi more closely, Mumbai too, where they're huge... but only in a cursory glanceish and not very deep way.

It's impossible to truly get in without a host, you'll hardly see the otherwise ubiquitous devnagri script, even for crudely painted Pepsi and Coke wall adverts etc BC !!!.. that bit really jumped out at us and got me by the gut my first visit.. the Hindu schoolkids were shocked but religion/politics was nowhere on our radar then, it was just very different.. like a different country within our own city, but we had a great time.

Best candidate is the key here. There are some genuine people still left who do good work for their constituencies. But these are few and far in between now, mostly because the economics of fighting an election requires you to engage in corruption, to simply break even.

Our local MLA is a good example here. Corrupt to the core, switched allegiances to every party to just make sure he gets elected, but always accessible to people and usually gets their work done. Never takes a bribe from the common man. As he says, even he has ethics.

I've filed so many RTIs against the BMC, Fire Department, Mumbai Police & MLA office in Bombay that a fed up BMC official came to my office and asked me to stop filing RTIs and contact him directly if I wanted any work done.

Muslims really need to come out of this extreme religion mentality. The way they bring Islam in every minor thing is particularly extreme to the point that sometimes they don't have their independence of thinking and tend not use their brains.
