How do Bangladeshis view 1965 war?

how many tanks were there in east pakistan during the war of 65 mr.oldy ? The answer is ZERO by the way ,the mujahids you are talking about failed to protect east pakistan in 71 from the Mukti Bahini(mostly civillian) :D how they would have protected east pakistan from well trained Indian army? the fact, as it remains WE WERE ABANDONED DURING THE CRISIS AND WERE ALWAYS CONSIDERED AS 'DISPOSABLE'
Terrain of East Pakistan is curse for any major Tank Warfare.check out current inventory of your forces...

@ " Kon sala kah ta yeh ham log garib they ". None of the peoples of two wings were "garib". It did not exist in Pakistan. Our living standard was much more high and people were very happy.Pakistan was a leading nation in the Third world countries. Pakistan's economy was "Nomuna" in developing countries. The people of Europe used to visit Pakistan both wings and were surprised to see the amazing development in agriculture.

@ Pakistan was the member of CENTO and SEATO. Pakistan had a defense pact with Australia and USA. Pakistan was the member of RCD. During 65 war Pakistan got help from Iran, Indonesia and other Muslim countries like Syria.
Mujeeb and bhutto destroyed everything we have.........

.
Turning point of our revolution :flame: Pakistan left entire East Pakistan unprotected and concentrated all her resources to defend west so it helped the nationalists to convince people and gather them under "separate state" idea :yahoo: thank you pak politicians you guys deserve a "স্বাধীনতা পদক( independence day medal )"

What nonsense, after some threats by the IAF, the PAF mounted it's first assault on the Indian base of Kalaikunda, hitting them so hard that after that, the Indians decided not to open war in the Eastern sector.....does the term, ''Tail choppers'' ring any bells.

@ My dear "Digital" and young man, yes there was no tank Battalion in 1965 in East Pakistan but the terrain of Bengal is not suited for Tank Warfare. It is true that we have now many tank but these were only show pieces to have an deterrent effect.

@ You are talking about Indian well train army ? My foot in those days the condition of Indian army was very shamble. India had to fought a war with China where she was miserably defeated. India did not had a well source of armament. She was completely dependent on USSR. However, lately she got some from USA..

Bangal is a derogatory term used by W Bengalis referring to E Bengalis. It is just like calling Pakistanis ****.
It is NOT a derogatory term like '****' 'cause Pakistanis don't call each other '****' and the name is given by outsiders.....
The term 'Bangal' on the other hand, is actually used to indicate people from a certain region and are given by 'insiders'.....
Just like people from Bihar are called Bihari, from Orissa as Oriya, people of erstwhile 'East-Bengal' are called 'Bangal'. There are other identification 'tags' for people of both East and West Bengal like "GHOTI' and 'BATI'.......none are regarded as derogatory but sometimes humorous though.

How we view it? We helped you win the war, the East Bengal Regiment was one of the reasons India failed to get to Lahore. But your government couldn't trust the Bangladeshis to run the then "United Pakistan".

What this is the first time I come to know this & I am bit surprise, here in Pakistan we use it as short form of Bangladesh.

Nope, that's not correct. The Ghotis call us Bangals. The Hindus call us Jabon, Melechha, etc. These are derogatory and E Bengali Muslims have always resented these.

Dunno which part of Pakistan you live in, but I never heard that term in my long years of stay there. Pakistanis call us Bangali instead of Bengali, and we know that to be an error in pronunciation.

Seems you people lost three wars to an ill equipped and weak Indian army !

. .
Very Simple......
Bangladeshi sees 1965 war as India vs BD test match which just finished today as draw due to rain (even though it was a draw but everybody know who actually won it)

Also Bangladeshi seed 1971 war as recently Pakistan vs BD series.....thrashed and destroyed the big brother

:D

Bangal as geographical term for Bangladesh (for west Bangal we use Indian Bangal) not as ethnicity ..... I live in Karachi.

.
Well Indian Bengalis are Ghotis plus Bangals who migrated from here. Together they live in IOB (Indian Occupied Bengal).

Khulna is a place. Where many of the people migrated from West Bengal. We call them Ghoti. Their nature is truly Ghoti Bati.
