Hindi-ans passed a constitutional amendment prohobiting parties seeking to end Indian occupation of their countries (like Tamil Nadu) from contesting election. Their target was DMK that increased their MLAs in 1962 tenfold.

DMK fooled the Hindi-ans by changing their publicized agenda dropping Tamil Nadu independewnmce demand. Yet the continued with their work sectretly. Came to power in 1967. Secretly contacted American military defense for soon to be announced unilateral independence. America was just out of Vietnam war and did not want to send its navy to defend Tamil Nadu. Tghat independence attempt failed.

It reveals that a Tamil Nadu State Government minister, Rajaram, belonging to the ruling DMK party, approached and enquired the USA consular officer if America would support Tamil Nadu independence. USA said it would not. USA had just got out of Vietnam war and did not want involved in another Asian war.

It was not a fool. It was DMK minister, and confidant of chief minister karunanidhi who asked the American gov for defense assistance if State gov under DMK declared independence.

DMK never gave up indep for Tamil Nadu. It just passed a resolution saying so but never gave up. Secretly they worked for it as I indicated on the first post above. Just this month DMK lesder and son of karunanidhi said he would welcome indep South India.
