How can we increase Afghan participation of Defence.pk

I think most Afghans would take extreme offence at that, though I suspect it may be true in the case of Nuristanis, Pashai and Kohistanis.

mmm, I don't think so -- I think Nuristanis never practiced Vedic religious -- Most of Afghanistan was Buddhism/Hindu and some Zorestrianism just like Pakistan -- I think most Pakistanis went from Hinduism to Buddhism to Hinduism to Islam. Afghans Hinduism to Buddhism to Islam.

I have read that they practiced an ancient form of vedic religion, the same certainly cannot be said of the Pashtuns. and Pashtuns have never been Hindu despite efforts by some Hindian nationalists to project this view.

I think it was some article by Richard Strand I read years ago. Buddihms may well have mad it's way into Tajikstan, though I am no expert.

Buddhism yes, Hinduism no. The Hindu dynasty of Kabul Shahi, was not native. You will hardly find any Hindu monument in Afghanistan, but entire eastern and central Afghanistan is dotted with Buddhist ruins and monuments. The ethnic Afghans themselves were not Hindus (thats why they coined the term Hindki for converts from Hinduism). Most probably they were not Buddhists either , for we dont find any Buddhist archaeological sites in the birth place of Pashtuns and its surroundings. A geography book of 983 A.D, Hadud-i-Alam, says that the newly converted King of Ninhar (Nangarhar) to Islam, had Muslim, Afghan and Hindu wives.....thus implying some of the Afghans were not yet converted to Islam and were not Hindus either. All the Pashtun tribes , currently living in the regions with Buddhist historical sites, are not the ancient inhabitants but migrants from Koh Suleiman range after Shahabuddin Ghauri period. For example you will find Buddhist stupas in Khyber agency but it doesnt imply that Afridis were once Buddhists or Hindus. From 16th century book of Akhund Darweza and from texts of Roshniyas , we come to know that Afridis migrated to Khyber pass and Tirah from Nangarhar in 16th century and displaced the native Dardic population (known as Tirahis). The expulsion of Idol-worshiping Tirahis (could be Hindus or Kafirs like Kalasha) was ordered by Pir Roshan for they were found cooperating with Mughals. Khyber agency was settled with Afridis and Shinwaris ,who were followers of Roshniya movement. @django

Btw who built the bamiyan buddhas, was is not the Buddhist king Ashoka, and I totally concur, Pashtuns most likely were following a form of Zoroastrianism, perhaps some may have even been Buddhist for a period but Hindu most definitely not.kudos

Horus, are you opposed if some of us organize a drive to recruit Afghan members?

We can make a list of Afghans on Twitter and we can welcome them. Perhaps we can get @Sher Malang and @A-Team to pitch in with the messaging.

Maybe we can have a special welcome message for them.

The Afghan twittersphere is dominated by an extremely racist diaspora. I think it's better to remain separate.

mmm -- one would hope there is a cure for most racism -- perhaps dialog is one such cure

Perhaps toning down the anti-Afghan narrative may be a good idea. There are legitimate criticisms that they must answer, but saying "they're all Pakistan haters" or "they're all drugies" is obviously going to make a lot of Afghanis stay away.

.
There were were very good afghan members here like @ahmed and currently @A Team. I dont understand why we need to invite them. Its not a party here, anyone with good honest views is welcome even if it is a bit anti Pakistani. This forum is full of anti Pakistani views if it is said correctly. I among others do not find any anti Pakistani view as an insult towards the country but as a form of problems that could warrant fixing. Some things are out of our or our governments control, the rest are basically footprints left over by our inbuilt bias that will take just a few more generations to overcome. In the end we are and will be closer to each other no matter how much money and time others throw in to force us into disgust.

.
Pakistanis are so polarized in views. Majority of the kids want Afghan refugees to be kicked back into Afghanistan, but then they want Afghan members to join the forum.

. .
It's too bad, Pakistanis as Muslims don't behave maturely. We accept refugees out of the kindness of our hearts, but then do tanz on them. We are a fucked up people.

.
There's plenty of dialogue between Pakistanis and Afghans on Twitter.

1. well twitter due to its 140 character limit is no the best medium for dialog
2. you can't really express complex ideas
3. there is no explicit form with rules etc.
4. no threading of ideas

Besides the reasons stated above, this forum is too political and nationalistic for most Afghans. Only Afghans with thick skin can survive here. Most Afghans are straight forward and short tempered like most rural people, they will tell you what they think and will be banned, lol
Its not true that they get banned because they are straight forward or blunt person or any thing like that.........they are not Afghans from rural areas of Afghanistan, but the ones born and bred in the western countries. They resort to name callings and insults from the very beginning, indicating their bad intention or purpose on this forum. Such trolls are permanently banned on this forum. Those Afghans who are not trolls, can easily 'survive' here.
