How Awami League handed over South Talpatti to India

.
Circular logic aside, I can tell you for a fact that you know nothing about democracy in Bangladesh.
Please do enlighten us then.

As far as the dispute goes, we had a specific claim, you had a specific claim. Both claims were duly considered by a neutral authority and a verdict acceptable to both parties has been pronounced. Under the terms of the said verdict, India can rightfully claim the region where this South Talpatti Island supposedly exists.

Now, should Bangladesh reject this claim, it is free to take over the land militarily. Who do you think would get this accomplished if in power? BNP?? BA??

I do not know, nor does it matter. You might as well ask @idune in regards to the last part.

My response was about state of democracy in Bangladesh.

I wish to see Bangladeshis themselves asking simple questions like these to shut up their Jamaati hotheads. The silence of the more rational BD members here is a bit disturbing.

Alright Duffer-e-Aala!! Answer my question though. Who would have done anything differently if in Power? And who and what would that be?

I do not know about their political affiliations. And I do not think it really matters.

They are not wrong either.

See, when I opened the newspaper in the morning after the verdict (Bangladeshi time), the media portrayal was like as if we had won a war against India.
PLEASURE IS ALL MINE | Almost another Bangladesh, second liberation

Seemed very odd. No, something was off.

The first comment on the section is interesting.

An over-eager report can hardly be an indicator of ulterior motives on part of India. We regularly get our share of hyped-up news from the media too. But it's up to the reader to verify the facts and base an objective opinion of the issue.

Factually, has the report made any error? In similar vein, how factual is the opinion of the OP's claims?

Let's start with how and why you consider that island to be Bangladesh's property in spite of the UN tribunal delinating the area.

I am not sure where these indians come from ????? This thread questions pre judgement filing by india installed Awami League over area of South Talpatti, which tribunal considered to render judgement. This thread showed how Awami League deliberately conceded South Talpati to india even before tribunal deliberation and judgement. There was no talk about post judgement claim.

Where the hell you get such idea from????

That's because Jamaati dumbos such as yourself never bother to independently corroborate any info they come across. In your first post, you've provided the claim lines of both India and Bangladesh. Have you bothered to check where exactly the map coordinates of Moore Island that Bangladesh is claiming fall on the map? Check it Duffer-e-Aala, they're to the west of South Talpatti island's map coordinates. Your India installed Awami league Government was claiming more land for Bangladesh than you Jamaatis wanted them to claim!:cheesy:

So has India lost out? NDTV has accessed an internal government of India note that suggests otherwise.
Even though India believes the delimitation has been done in an arbitrary fashion, it is not the loser. Control of the disputed New Moore Island and concomitant access to Hariabhanga river is a significant gain. The island, supposedly rich in oil and natural gas, has been a traditional sore point between the two neighbouring countries.

The Hariabhanga river, which flows around the Sundarbans in West Bengal and borders Satkhira district of Bangladesh, and the region holds twice the amount of hydrocarbons as compared to the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh.

UN Tribunal Resolves 40-Year-Old Maritime Dispute Between India and Bangladesh - NDTV

It's resolved peacefully so chill out. We've given away a tiny submerged island (so basically a bit of sea) in order to gain the vast majority - even your own source indicates that India is unhappy with the outcome - but you want us to cry that BD is the loser? Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

To keep things in perspective, BD has finally resolved a 40 year old dispute and won the vast majority of our claim. This is a dispute that no previous incumbent even attempted to resolve - and all you can do is moan! For once be happy for your country and try to spread good news rather than playing cheap and dirty politics.

And who the heck are you??? Paddling Awami League line of lie is futile now - their motive of not claiming South Talpatti is already exposed.

UN panel verdict allows India access to Hariabhanga gas reserves, Dhaka gets 20 K sqkm EEZ

For India too it is a matter of satisfaction and also a diplomatic victory for several reasons. One, the United Nations' Permanent Court of Arbitration in Hague acknowledged India's sovereignty over New Moore Island and grants India concomitant access to the Hariabhanga river.

The disputed region was near the mouth of the Hariabhanga river, an area of huge strategic importance for India in the coming decades. In 2006, India had discovered 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in a creek about 50km to the south of the mouth of the Hariabhanga within the contested region. The Hariabhanga gas reserves are estimated to be almost twice what the entire Krishna-Godavari basin holds.
