Honour crime figures in UK revealed

UK police recorded at least 2,823 so-called honour attacks last year, figures from 39 out of 52 forces show.

A freedom of information request by the Iranian and Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation (Ikwro) revealed that nearly 500 of these were in London.

Among the 12 forces also able to provide figures from 2009, there was an overall 47% rise in such incidents.

This is almost exclusively in Muslim communities.

If the figure is so bad in Britain, I can only imagine the horrors women face in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi etc.

It's the new tactic by the western bigots. Every domestic crime of passion committed by a Muslim is given a religious twist and labelled an honor killing. Similar domestic violence by others is not viewed in a religious context.

White guy kills his wife or daughter: he is just a violent maniac, or depressed because of money or whatever.

Muslim guy kills his daughter: honor killing; stop the presses, another honor killing.

this has more with culture and tradition to do than with religion, it was a Kurd who did this. there is a high percentage of kurds who isn't muslims...

I think it is as much true in India as Iran. I am ashamed of it to be frank.
There is no honour in killing your own child, call the police if you think he/she is doing something wrong.

I think there is a scene in LSD(Love Sex and Dhoka) in which a girl is killed by her own relatives. Disgusting.
