Hong Kong no.1 in World Competitiveness Rankings

.
Tell me what kind of person would hijack other identity to launch such dispicable attacks at others, who is not even a true bred Singaporean but dragging us all singaporean along with him.

Yeah, you are worse than a liar, wanting to be part of us but yet deiberately casing harm to our society and at the same huringl disrespectful remarks at us (the country which host you for 8 years). But I guessed it is ok for you since you do not have much integrity or you won't be leeching on us and abandon your wonderful motherland so easily. LOLOL.

Yeah, YOU should apologise to all singaporean immediately for the ill remarks you have made, or retract your citizenship claim if you have any honor man.

Born and bred in Hong Kong.

The only thing I can complain about is that the weather is HOT and humid. So I often take vacations in the more Northern parts of China.

I knew HK was competitive, but number 1 in the world, that is a surprise.

It’s luck to meet a true HKer like you in PDF!

When I was in academy, I had a smart Chinese fellow from mainland, who accepted a lecturer offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, pretty competitive package, better than N America ones. I belive academically, HK Universities are more following British system.

How about slums in Hong Kong these days? I once saw those elderly or unprivileged lived in caged bed from pictures, many beds packed in a room. How has the government done to improve their livelihood? Has the scale downsized?

How do you think the progress of democracy in HK, especially the popular election of legislature and CEO?

It’s a pity that rich-poor gap increased recently. Any hope to narrow it?

HK has been envy for many. Hope prosperity and freedom will last forever in Hong Kong.

Not bad even Taipei came in the top 10.

We need more like CD I do hope someday he enters politics in HK. :D

No, we are usually ranked separately due to our status as a Special Administrative Region of the PRC. :azn:

Pretty!

One country, two systems in display.

How easy or difficult for outsiders to get this passport? Is the passport issued by HK SAR or Chinese Central Government?

I know there is a lawsuit currently in HK Courts for the benefit of Philippino servants' HK residency working in HK for long time. How is it going on?

show me 1 ill remark i made. just because you repeat something a 100 times, it doesnt become true.
I have honour. I contribute to the society in this country in a positive way, and they will gladly give me the citizenship. I am in no way ditching my country. I am only taking on additional responsibility. now 2 countries are fortunate to have me.
In fact you are the one who was constantly writing bad things about India even before i started to respond to you.

Thanks buddy.

We had another Hong Kong member here a while back (Brotherhood) who grew up in the same area of Hong Kong that I did, i.e. in Mid-Levels (半山區). And I think Fanling Monk and kewel33 are also Hong Kongers too.

About "democracy" in HK, that is a tricky subject. Hong Kong has never been fully democratic, since we do not have "universal suffrage", and we have never been able to elect our top leaders, like the current CY Leung.

I don't see a problem with that, personally. I would much rather have a system like HK where we have first-world living standards, rather than a "democracy" like Nigeria or Sudan.

I have never cared about the "name" of the system, only the results. Which is why I think the system on the Chinese mainland (Socialism with Chinese characteristics) is so effective. They provide results, rather than "rhetoric" like a lot of the democracies in the developing world do.

Indian dominating our banks? LOLOL. The world top bank is OCBC, a 100% local owned bank whereas, DBS, another 100% local owned bank, is the SE Asia largest bank. Even banks from China/ hong kong has a much prominent presence than your ICIC here? What a pathetic loser! indian are dominating... Blah Blah...LOLOL.

Yeah, go ahead and sue me. Please put all our discussion up in our local "Stomp" forum for debate so that we see who is going to be deprimanded later. Indian Liar!

OCBC -world top bank? maybe based on credit rating. But the international market share wise, it is no where in the top 10.

The largest bank in the world by both profit and market capitalization is ICBC. Followed by China Construction Bank.

World's Largest Banks 2012

The picture on the page is the ICBC offices in Hong Kong, however ICBC is actually based in Beijing.

The question is market capitalization vs total assets(or international market share) - ICBC is the biggest bank in terms of market capitalization but in terms of international market, they are small player.

LOL, unfortunately I am not very political. :P

I have a friend who is very political though, he is always setting up rallies and doing marches (I come along sometimes).

Maybe he will be the next Chief Executive of Hong Kong, but not me.

What kind of rallies ? his political stance if you don't mind :D

More accountability from Politicians, less corruption, etc.

Sometimes I wish the PRC would send down a Chief Executive for us from the mainland. The recent leadership election was the most corrupt thing I have seen in a while, believe it or not someone actually made a "Musical" production about Henry Tang's corruption.

I thought the ICAC wiped out most of the corruption in HK, but it is coming back with a vengeance.

In hindsight it was a good thing that CY Leung won the leadership elections. The other two are such corrupt bastards.
