Top Hizbul Mujahideen commander killed in encounter in South Kashmir
Srinagar: In an ongoing fierce encounter between the security forces and the terrorists in South Kashmir, a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander was gunned down on Thursday evening.
The encounter between the forces and the terrorists was on till the time of filing of this report
According to reports, a joint team of the Army and the police while acting on a tip off about some terrorists hiding in village Chursoo of Avanatipura sector in South Kashmir, cordoned off the area. On being being challenged to surrender, the terrorist resorted to heavy firing which was retaliated to by the security forces, said a police official.
He said that in the heavy exchange of firing, the security forces succeeded in gunning down a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander operating in the area for quite some time.
Further re-enforcement have reached the encounter site to ensure that the hiding terrorist do not succeed in escape from the area under the cover of darkness, added the official.
The encounter between the forces and the terrorists was on till the time of filing of this report.
