the chaos of 1946 and nehrus attitude after direct action plan gave us Pakistan..uptil 1940 when the shape of confederation couldn't be agreed upon, the thought of a separate state also became an option.. britishers /mount batten (your first governor General) had no mood for division till 1946..it was just a matter of months riots happened things turned around..Jinnah wanted a confederation with weak center unlike nehru so even if jinnahs confederation would have formed the unity of india wouldn't have lasted long as the Muslim hindu riots would have devastated the region. And we saw a prime example of that in form of how Indian state went to war and killed 125000 Hyderabad state soldiers and innocent civilians to usurp it.
The eventual results of jinnahs efforts was a soverign pakistan either way.

Semantics - the actions, wants, and attitude of Hindus resulted in it yes. It simply didn't align with the Muslims' interests.

WOW. I never realized that Lord Curzon, and Cayan Uddin Ahmet, the Chief Secretary of Bengal were Hindutva puppets when they partitioned India in 1905.
I had No Idea that Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah Bahadur, Nawab of Dhaka was actually an Hindutva spy.
or that Muslim league formed in 1906 to aid the british and with a clear agenda was really a Hindu organization.

British wanted partition, but it was the Muslim League who made it happen by collaborating with the British.
