In a controversial statement, CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said that Hindu mythologies like Ramayana and Mahabharata prove that "even Hindus can be violent".

"Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said that Hindus don't believe in violence. Many kings and principalities have fought battles in the country. Ramayana and Mahabharata are also filled with instances of violence and battles. Being a pracharak, you narrate the epics but still claim Hindus can't be violent?" Sitaram Yechury said

He said that it is a fallacy to say that Hindus don't engage in violence as historicity doesn't verify this claim.

"What is the logic behind saying there is a religion which engages in violence and we Hindus don't," Yechury said.

. . .
What he never spoke was about the active diplomacy to avert war till the end in both epic....
Loser communist......

.
The mere fact that he is still alive and breathing after bad mouthing hindu's holy books in a hindu majority country says otherwise.

Thats the beauty of India. You can have Owaisis and Yechri's saying anything against Modi n all.. but we do nothing.
Let a Hindu say a word against.... Islam.... Oh wait.. How many Hindus are still alive in Pakistan ?

.
Try trash talking the Quran, the way you are doing the Ramayana and see what happens. That tells you something about Hindus.

Further, the thread title has been artifically changed. He never said that "hindus are violent", he said "even Hindus can be violent".

Personally i find many instances where BJP sounds to be bad for minorities and NOn BJP parties...But these scums are the reason to propel me to allign and support BJP without any second thought..

That's what is wrong with communism in India, for these pseudo communists the religious charlatans that Karl Marx spoke of apply only to the adherents of the Hindu faith. They will never voice their concern against Islam or Christianity.

Exactly, though i don't align myself with their way of thinking, BJP atleast is not duplicitous. Barring one or two left wing parties in India that most probably haven't heard the name of, most of these mainstream so called communist parties aren't even worth their salt.

he was responding to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur comment "Hindus don't believe in violence"

Besides the epics and puranas, the Hindu supreme text, rig veda has many instances of Aryans celebrating and praising Aryan god Indra for the vengeance and mass murder of 1000s of dasas with his weapon of destruction.

7 Indra the Vṛtra-slayer, Fort-destroyer, scattered the Dāsa hosts who dwelt in darkness.
For men hath he created earth and waters, and ever helped the prayer of him who worships.

8 To him in might the Gods have ever yielded, to Indra in the tumult of the battle.

3 Indra smote down, Agni consumed, O Indu, the Dasyus ere the noontide in the conflict.
Of those who gladly sought a hard-won dwelling he cast down many a thousand with his arrow

4 Lower than all besides hast thou, O Indra, cast down the Dasyus, abject tribes of Dāsas.

PS - The dasas/dasyus refers to dark skinned people who didnt follow the same religion as the Aryans (Rig Veda describes them as a-karman -non-performers of Aryan sacrifices, anya-vrata - observers of other religious rites).

Violence is a Human trait, religion is just another reason for them to be violent. Without religion, humans will find something else.

I don't think, he has said anything against Hinduism. He has merely stated, what is in Mahabharta and Ramayana.

.
I would like to suggest an alternate title:
All humans are violent, and could be violent A-holes, there is not a single grouping based on religion/class/ethnicity etc that can claim otherwise, if they do they are liars.
