hindu group urges amazon dot com to remove leggings carrying hindu gods

The shortest and simplist way to deal with Amazon is to ban it from India, thereby giving home grown e-commerce concerns the opportunity to grow into the Amazon of India。

In India Flipkart is already doing better than Amazon. No need to ban it.

But they are doing the very same with Christian gods too..so i don't think that they are doing this just to hurt or mock a particular religion...

I am not known to be a Hindutva flagbearer, but lets be fair here, what they can do with their flag or their religious figures, they cannot do the same with others, they have to take care of the sensivities of others. Even you cannot do a lot of things in the name of Christian gods, secularism is about respecting all religious feelings, not the free licence to demean them.

Completely Agreed....
That was my reply to Manvan/Indrani..
As a hindu they have every rights to criticize the American Christian society and their attitude towards religious minorities...but instead of that they are using this as an opportunity to poke fun at Jesus ,which is not fair...

how about this ?

I hope it wasn't Ganesh on ladies inner ... that would have been so soooo wrong.

This was also thanked by Jaunty and Kloitra. Why no moral outrage from the secular bunch ? ...... are you so blind to your own bigotry ? amazing.

Interesting, i wonder if u have been asking to be fair, if this was Islam instead of Hinduism. which i seriously doubt, double slandered.

if this was islam there would have riots by now :D

Leading Hindu groups are urging film bosses not to release Mike Myers' comedy flop The Love Guru in India for fear of riots on the streets.

Officials at the Universal Society of Hinduism, who spearheaded a Hindu boycott of the film in America, have joined with other leading groups to call for a nationwide ban on the movie, claiming funnyman Myers mocks the religion in the film.

Was amazon forced to remove this item, answer is yes, had they choose to use some sort of freedom clause, riots would have been next.

Check my post in previous page, and it is the Pakistanis who are showing double standard here.

It is better to act sensibly when using all religious symbols.

Non religious people in the west make fun of Jesus etc. Personally I think its in bad taste. One should not insult anyone gods or prophets even for ''fun''. Amazon should remove the sale.

.
Will Pakistanis suck it up if they put pictures of Kabah, prophet Muhammad and Quran in their underwares?
No they wont, but when they'll protest, Hindutva terrorists will label them intolerant, followers of a militant religion. Did you not notice these kind of things in some of the posts here in this thread? The point is, religious figures, deities, associations etc belong to whichever religion or theological school of thought must not be used to sell products.

They are free to print American flag in their underwares, not Indian flag, learn the difference.
I was looking myself for a shoe a couple of days ago. One I liked was from Clarks and I was about to purchase it when I noticed 'made in India' printed on the underside of the shoe. I did not buy it but I was not too happy to see it there. After all it is a shoe and having a country's name on the underside of the shoe did not look right to me. Things usually start seamlessly and grow into something more noticeable.

Sentiments apart, purchasing something made in India is good for India, and Indian workers.
