This is what a Hindu animal sacrifice looks-like:

ya we know... and its utter shameful and disgusting....
killing innocent animals ... :(

.
hmm... because these killings take place in open where many people go to worship and see the deity... and when i visit this place to worship i feel sick seeing a poor animal being killed for fanaticsm... i feel terrified, mortified, and disgusting by the this madness..
the animal which is killed in to he butcher shop is killed within the primises of the shop where people who only buy meat goes not people like me...
its oobviously a act of cruelty when the animals are kept in front where other of their kind are been.killed... they are made to watch and u will be horrified watching the rxn of the animal seeing its own kind being killed...
its a shame only human animals hv right.... but animals hv no right...

Good, first post from you based on logic. :) Now, what if the temples say that:

1. They will cover the place where they sacrifice animals, those who don't want to see it need not see it.

2. They will keep the living animals separate from the ones being sacrificed to avoid cruelty (as mentioned in your post).

3. We have many gods, and animal sacrifices are made only to some specific gods, for example, Maa Kali and her different avatars, what if the believers of Maa Kali say that animal sacrifice was always a part of the puja rituals of Maa Kali (at least of that particular temple or god), and those who don't believe in animal sacrifice can worship any other god in any other temple where animal sacrifice is not practiced.

4. Sacrificed animals are consumed as food, same as the meat from butcher shops. So, if the butcher shop is legal, how animal sacrifice can be illegal?

killing animal for food is different from killing them as ritual.. to curry favour with god(s).. dont you think?

But animals killed in rituals also become food.

.
well see,
Fireworks on diwali is okay but u dont want to see them daily because its not good for society/environment!
Killing animal daily for food is okay, but dont want to see it happening during feast like eid as ritual!
I dont understand the comparison. If you think killing animals is inherently evil and should stop, I dont want to argue with you.
But if you think killing animals for food is same as killing them for fun (people used to hunt, it was a good day out then) or for religious purpose, I would disagree. The intent is clearly different.
I myself dont see killing animals for food is cruel or wrong as such, in the natural world, predators kill prey for food all the time. I would prefer it to be less painful for the animal though

.
What a shame these Bengalis arguing for ritual slaughter are more regressive than people of India 2000 years ago.

I am talking about the logic and legal aspects of the ruling, I have already said I am not a very religious type and I am not bothered about any particular Hindu festival. Read the title of the thread, this judgement is not free of legal controversies.

And from where the hell "Bengalis" come into picture? Am I the representative of all the Bengalis? Stop thinking like a filthy racist all the time. I am not arguing for ritual slaughter, I am arguing against the logic of the verdict, maybe the difference is too subtle for you to understand.

i just agreed with the bold one in my comment but with some sarcasm ;-)....as ur comment had two things, u support but still u dont want to support..thats the reason i replied with that diwali stuff..people agree but dont agree in every situation...hence I said, leave it..lets get back to life as usual..lets not make it more complex!

lol... my all post were made on logic only.. jst because u don't know much of constitution and working of courts doesn't make them illogical..

okay let me ask u one question..
if the laws allows ...will u sacrifice someone from ur family in this type of ritual... or urself..

I read your arguments. I do not want religion sanctioned killing for any creature and you were arguing how it is immoral and illegal to kill for religion.

I know the judgement is legally controversial but it will initiate a debate which is much needed.

Bengalis come in because everywhere there is regression you can see them supporting it. Be it someone objecting against UCC on the grounds of minority appeasement or shielding TMC govt from terrorism charges or talking against Hindus. The community as a whole are anti-Hindus.

I was pointing towards the evilness of religion which asks people to kill animals so that gods will be happy (or may be make their lands fertile due to animal blood)....
other crucial differences are, the animal killed for food are done by experts not by ordinary folks.. (society will be much more violent and brutal if people get used to killing big animals themselves).
.. there is usually less wastage when we buy food we need... with sacrifice, food is an afterthought, somtimes its a dick measuring contest.. how many you killed.

Irrelevant. If the laws allow killing humans, then sacrificing a human being cannot be called "Illegal" anymore!! And that's the whole point of the argument, laws don't allow killing of humans, but laws do allow killing of goats.

ya laws don't ... but now court has ruled against it.. so there is now a ruling which is against this crime..
and now animal sacrifices have become illegal too...

why do we celebrate Diwali and Dushera with fireworks? its a celebration that the lord Rama has arrived back..so if fireworks is to make god happy (as per believer) then why cant we do a bloodshed on eid to make god happy (as per believer)? considering u ve no issue with bloodshed of animal in general, i guess its all ok :-)

Diwali fire crackers are nt for God... its a man made thing for just enjoying and increasing the festivity and celebration of the occasion... i don't think any God will say go and burn crackers as i am coming... in the same way no god will say kill other animal to make me happy....

Good... Need to implement strictly.... There should be universal decree against such sacrifices in the name of appeasement of God..... God also live in the soul of those innocent creatures......

Fist impose Ban on Killings done on Eid, then show your morality.
