Italy is also a part of typhoon.
I dont think india will like to have any project that has italy.
New Recruit
Offering much less capabilities than the Rafale with a similar payload.not yet not all of those.. soon though
typical loadout of 4 Paveways and 6 A2A missiles
Total BS, Parrikar himself has told that MMRCA contract doesn't allow negotiation with second highest bidder nor IAF is keen only Eurofighter . Re-tendering of MMRCA will-not happen after such big saga lasting a decade , it might be simply scrapped
New Recruit
Umm, nope. All indicators point to India canceling MMRCA and choosing Su-35 and accelerating FGFA development. Rafale and Eurofighter are just diversion to their real goal
Offering much less capabilities than the Rafale with a similar payload.
- less endurance (two small wing tanks versus 3 tanks with higher capacity for the Rafale
- less weaponry, both air to air and air to ground (2 air to air missiles less, no match for MICA IR, and 2 250 kg guided bombs less).
All indicators point to India canceling MMRCA and choosing Su-35 and accelerating FGFA development. Rafale and Eurofighter are just diversion to their real goal
EF was perceived to be a good A2A bird but its development pathway now indicates good gain in A2G capability. The CFTs add incredible performance in range and new developments/Plans adds sharp teeth to A2G role. @sancho would be able to validate my statement on this.
Okay.
So whats new?
If they are quoting this price now then what stopped them from filling in this price in original tender?Other news sources state that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier offered 126 Eurofighter TYPHOON for approx. U$9.8 billion, about $2 billion less than the original French $12 billion.
India would also have to deal with pressure from Paris, given that France has invested a lot of political capital in the deal. France is India's third-largest supplier of defence equipment and major deals include the SCORPENE submarine line and the upgrade of the MIRAGE 2000 fleet. But the counter-offer and its financial implications can create uncertainty for the MMRCA project. And that cannot be good news for the Indian Air Force as the project is already two years behind schedule and other replacement projects such as the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) with Russia and the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) have also been crawling.
If France excerts toomuch pressure and blackmailing techniques on India, then France may crawl to the 5th or 6th position SCORPENE submarines are crawling after so many years till now they have not materialized and the maitri project has failed ,i dont see india selecting TYPHOON as it a joint production of many EU countries if even one country has some issue with india its spare parts and support system will be stopped and if any one country wants to blackmail India the entire TYPHOON fleet will be grounded so TYPHOON has come and gone it will be Rafael or any Russian planes
