There is another way. The Oxford dictionary where I stumbled upon that word is less than 900 pages long. If each and every entry in that book is scanned, maybe I will get it.

I get what you're asking, you want a way to say "forgot to retrieve something stored temporarily " with a single word... Misplaced doesn't work because it implies you have no idea where it might be...
