Truth is, there is no end of weapons that both countries can one up each other with - the game was actually over when both attained nuclear capability.

Indian problems are much more acute. Once attrition starts in the west and they start allocating more resources they will start exposing both north and east. It could be game over in a very short period. Pakistan on the other hand has secured Afghanistan and an Iran that has greater problems on its north and west.

There is another greater problem for India. Once attrition begins sikhs may abstain and India itself is the only one that holds the blame by marginalizing sikhs. Since, Punjab has direct border with Pakistan and Kashmir is already hostile to India the two terrains at least politically amicable to India are Rajasthan amd Gujarat. Both having deserts and marshes. At the end of the day keeping status quo should be easy for Pakistan unless it goes for the jugular and liberates khalistan for sikhs in which case there will a natural and willing ally. For that Pakistan will have to push both Rajasthan and Kashmir. India will never be the same when all its different people will have their own state.
