What's new

HERE COMES THE IAC | Navy beefs up security at Wellington Island with IAC

^^^ lol

IAC-1 has an excellent management system. The ship is little late as of now but considering we are making a hi-tech 40000 ton carrier for the first time, the pace of work is superb. It will be inducted into the IN by 2015 for sure. Mark my words.

Kinetic ,

i would highly doubt the 2015 time frame - I am with Fateh on this. Its 2012 now - we have just floated the hull. You can yourself the amount of work remaining ! Ramp, control tower is all missing. Optimistically speaking - lets say IN pulls out all stops and we can have these structure assembled and fixed by 2013 Jan (1 year - highly unlikely, but still). We are still missing one crucial component apart from structures ! We are totally forgetting about wiring and piping - super structures such as these are very complex in terms of wiring and piping. You can take example of Gorshkov. They took more than 2 years just for wiring !! Nothing else. After wiring and piping - weapon assembly, fire and control radar, communication systems, etc..You yourself can see the work involved. You can bench mark P17 projects also - and see how much time they took. IAC1 is far more bigger and complex than P17 projects.

So all being said - 2015 highly unlikely , 2018 very much possible.

IAC2 will be a different game , the experience that we gain - will propel us when we make IAC2.

I Would like to Add , If IAC-2 Will be of Same class of that of IAC-1 i.e Its design will be same as that of IAC-1 - A Conventionally Powered CATOBAR Carrier with Ski-Jump ,we can Least expect IAC-2 Induction quicker

But , If the Design will be Different as it has been said that It will be Bigger Carrier With CATOBAR Layout and E-mals ,Such Complicated Design may Lead to Delay in IAC-2

Hopefully IAC-1 Should Get Inducted By 2015-16 Timeframe
