Dubai: A large number of people from the Pakistani community in the UAE attended a health fair aimed at raising awareness about diabetes among the youth.
The fair, hosted at the Pakistan Education Academy, was organised by the Pakistani Youth Forum (PYF) in collaboration with their partners and the Pakistan Association.
Educational booths, health check-ups, screenings and talks, as well as games and other fun activities for children, were organised as part of the event.
Nearly a thousand members of the Pakistani community attended the fair, according to organisers, including students of Pakistan Education Academy, who came with their families to benefit from the health fair.
Javed Malek, Pakistan’s ambassador, attended the event and said “It is an extremely proud moment for all of us as Pakistanis to be present here to support a cause. We hope to see more such events in future to give awareness to the community.”
Dr Mona Al Bahar, Member of Federal National Council and Acting CEO of Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, was also invited to the health fair. She said she wished more events like these were organised to benefit the youngest members of the society.
Pakistan’s leading cricket Test match scorer, Younis Khan, came as a guest of honour and encouraged the students to prioritise their education to become better people and better Pakistanis.
PYF is a youth entity under the Pakistan Association Dubai that supports both health and education.
