Hamza Abbassi backtracks from statement in support of Ahmadis after causing uproar
hamza-1-420x237.jpg

LAHORE: Pakistani TV and film star Hamza Ali Abbassi, never known to take back his words, today backtracked on a statement he made during a live Ramazan show about Ahmadis.

During a live Ramazan show that he hosts on a private television channel, Abbassi had earlier criticized the persecution of Ahmadis in the country and questioned the Pakistani state’s authority in declaring a particular sect as non-Muslim.

The statement earned the Pyaarey Afzal star plaudits from prominent figures in liberal and entertainment circles, including Never Forget Pakistan founder Jibran Nasir and film director Adnan Malik. Abbassi has, in the past, been criticized in such circles for a range of positions he has taken on women’s rights and religious extremism and intolerance in the country.

Surprisingly, with his most recent statement on Ahmadis, Abbassi seems to have angered the very people who once supported his once conservative-leaning positions.
In a video released on social media and various online discussion forums, Abbassi seemed to take at least part of his controversial statement.

While in his earlier statement the TV star had expressed strong opposition against the state’s policy of declaring Ahmadis as non-Muslim, in the video released today, Abbassi started off by accepting that Ahmadis were considered non-Muslim by the majority of Pakistan.

“If a majority of Pakistanis agree that Ahmadis are non-Muslim then I have no objection,” he said.

At the same time, however, Abbassi stuck to his guns on the persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan, arguing that they still have rights under the Pakistani Constitution like other “non-Muslim” groups.

“The debate should actually be about why Ahmadis aren’t given their due rights in Pakistan,” he explained.

He also questioned why his support for Ahmadis had generated such an uproar. “If I can come on TV and talk about the rights of Christians and Hindus, why can’t I do the same for Ahmadis,” he asked.

Abbassi also defended his act of speaking out in favor of the marginalized community. “The law [which declares Ahmadis non-Muslim] does not prohibit us from talking about the problems of the Ahmadi community in Pakistan,” he said.

in the end he valued his career more then his values.nothing wrong in this a man need to feed himself but now he should stop issuing the statements that he can't back because in the end it is our ahmedi brothers who suffers because he brought them the unwanted attention and when they needed him with them in the spot light he backed-out.

No, in the end he valued his life more than his morals. Anyway, it's a hot button topic. When most powerful men in Pakistan failed to correct this issue hamza ali abbasi is only a small time actor. Stick to giving out u-phones and honda cc bikes on the show and leave this life threatening subject alone.

I corrected it for you

It's about Islam not Mullah. Secondly Qadyanis are non Muslims and were rightly declared non Muslims in constitution as non Muslims. Now as they are declared minorities it's state responsibility to make sure they get rights which minorities get. As for Hamza Ali Abbasi raising this issue not only it was stupid but also dangerous and would have only increased trouble for Ahmedis. I know some liberals get heart attack from Mullahs but Islamic Laws sooner or later would be implemented whether liberals like it or not.

.
Mullaism is a very cruel and dangerous Mafia cult in Pakistan I'm not surprised if he lit back to save himself. May Allah protect him and save him from Devils. Ameen
May others take courage from him to speak on difficult topics

So if they are non muslims we cant even discuss the persecution they face?

How is raising issues of a minority dangerous?

Dhamki hmm but its the other way around mate people are now talking about issues and i can gaurantee you will see change in many laws in ypur life time whoch you wont appreciate :D

.
It is in the great benifit of Ahmedis that they have been declared non Muslims..otherwise the vast majority of people who are tolerating them and sitting quitely could not have been stopped from being aggressive/violent towards them.
Right now, they're like.."Leave them as they as not Muslims."
...
Secondly the 'state' declaring Ahmedis as Non Muslims gives a notion that it is a work of ignorant parliamentarians. On the contrary, declaring them Non Muslims was only after it was agreed upon by Scholars of various schools of thought regardless of any sectarian affiliation.
The entire Muslim Ummah has a consensus on this issue. To be a Muslim, one HAS to accept Prophet Muhammad SW as the last and final messenger of God and this decisive principle to enter the the fold of Islam can never be changed/tilted/manipulated to accomodate anybody.

We would see that. I have been hearing about change in law but nothing has changed and yes change that is that laws will become more Islamic.

There is some laws and courts on the sky who damn care what's your laws are? You guys just trying to be a god and challenging His Superiority. Now if I recite Kalima Shahada I'm a Muslim you can't read minds can't see hearts and here you interfering in the laws made by Him.

Well Kalma Shahada is good but if you are denying basic tenant of Islam that is HAZRAT MUHAMMAD SAW is the last PROPHET of ALLAH than that person is not a Muslim. Also we are not playing GOD in fact ALLAH and his RASOOL SAW have clearly told what Muslims have to believe in to be a Muslim. If a person breaks or denies or changes any of it than he is not a Muslim.

.
Stupid these ahmadis in 1 army place what right don't have which this stupid is talking about

Calling them a Muslim is not their right if they don't pass the basic test. of Islam

It's like failed student in test Abbasid saying no he is passed

He don't know. What he is talking about

I disagree with him here.

But

Totally agree with him here as when U have declared them Non Muslims then do give them rights as U give to other minorities.
