Hamas reiterates non-intervention in Egypt affairs | Maan News Agency
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hamas on Thursday urged the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to create an independent fact-finding commission to investigate accusations by the Egyptian authorities.
In a statement, Hamas highlighted that the movement had confirmed several times that "there hasn't been any intervention in Egypt’s internal affairs before, during or after the revolution."
The statement added that stability in Egypt "has always been a Hamas interest."
"Our rifle will never be pointed to anybody except our enemy. We will not be driven by any provocations as the goal of our resistance project is to liberate Palestine and this is a unanimous goal in the Arab and Islamic nation."
The statement added that "it is unbelievable that a besieged party in the Gaza Strip would seek to shake the stability in a state which is its strategic ally and only exit to the world."
Attempts to accuse prominent Hamas' leaders of conspiracy against Egypt are "exposed attempts which go in line with the growing trend seeking to disfigure the movement and its bright history of resistance."
The joint enemy of Palestine and Egypt is the only beneficiary of such attempts, added the statement.
Since a July coup that ousted president Mohamed Morsi, Egyptian military authorities have accused Hamas of being connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and militant groups that have waged a campaign against the government.
Along with the former president, some 131 people are now on trial in Egypt including dozens of members of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and Hezbollah.
