HAL Tejas - An Overview

When you buying more second hand f16s? BTW its not good for another product of yours. sends wrong signal to the world.

Don't know. But if more second-hand F-16s become available without any sanctions or shortcomings, then PAF should take advantage of the situation.

PAF is a superior force with much more effective resources and project management apparatus...unlike some failures around our region ;)

As PAF commander said, second-hand F-16s will be used to train pilots for F-16s..in this way, PAF F-16 pilots will have 100% training that they require on F-16s, and at the same time, we will save the air-frame time of our latest and upgraded F-16s for war.

Before, our prime F-16 squadrons used to lose a lot of hours for training. Now, our prime F-16 squadrons will have more flying hours for war and combat operations, while our pilots will still get 100% on F-16s at the same time!

The aircraft had it's first flight on January 4 - 2001 with Kaveri engine powering the aircraft.
The Kaveri engine turns out to be complete failure (after 600million of Investment).
During the upcoming years HAL Tejas prototypes go under tests with Kaveri power-plant , however India gives up on Kaveri and imports American F414 engine's for the Tejas.
HAL reports that they will continue to use the F414 engine till the Kaveri Engine is ready.
Tejas shows up in various air shows across India.
Tejas suffers from technical failures throughout.
HAL confirms to have much improved the Tejas, and these days Tejas true final prototype is going under IAF various tests, If these tests are passed, IAF and Indian Navy will buy Tejas to replace the MiG-21's aging fleet.

Statistics :
Unit Cost (Mark 1) : 27 US million dollars.
Project cost : U.S 1.2 Billion
Number built : 14 (Including Prototypes)
Project age : 31 Years
Status : In Development (according to wikipedia) but It is actually being tested by IAF.

Pakistani give right facts

in 1983 i saw at HAL workshop no. 27, Bangalore first model of next HINDUSTAN Fighter, But till 1997 this didnt move to wind tunnel testing ...

OK guys this is 2015 and what Indian sources say about Tejas.

There is a report about Tejas in IBNLIVE which says as below. (Note: I can not paste direct link b/c I am a newby and the system does not allow me to.)

LCA Tejas not yet a potent fighter, deficient on 53 parameters, delays hurting IAF: CAG

Not again, what a useless crapy thread
Don't make fool out of yourself.. IAF First introduced mig21 in 1963-64.. Why we want to replace a high end fighter(at that time) in 1969?? HAL started licence production of mig21 in 1967 only..
you on the spot Mr:tup:

God one more Tejas page........when will people get over it???
