Whats the benefit?? Building 2000 crore statues all over India? What good is going to happen with this?

Well Its all depends on the motive. The place where this is being built is already famous among tourists because of its beautiful location and sardar sarovar dam. Gujarat govt has planned it to make a good tourist destination and connect it through metro from Vadodara(around 50 km).
PS: Last but not the least, Gujaratis are very fond of tourism and IMO its a worthy investment.

I disagree Sir.
I think it will pay for itself many times over by the increased tourism and becoming a symbol.

People tend to underestimate the value of intangibles - like symbolism.

I'm not sure about that, mate, but one never knows. State funds should not be used for projects of this nature IMHO...anyway, I sincerely hope you're right about this piece of construction paying for itself many times over.

But these kind things can be done by private investors also.. Why wasting government money on statues when there are lot of things we can do with that money. Metro and 4Gs are okay, but 3000 crore for a frigging statue?? With that amount we can turn the slums into good real estate lands

Hell... I barely get 150kbps on 3G!

As per IMT2000 standards 3G internet mean a speed of atleast 200kbps,but i wonder if TRAI has ever come up wid a minimum Internet speed rule till date,i wish 4G services are atleast provided at 2mbps or it would a shame.

Tourism is a multi billion dollar industry am sure the statue will help it grow further. As for the funds being used for alleviation of poverty or betterment of slums i am sure even if the statue were not to be built, there won't be much of a noticeable change in status quo of the poor or people in slums because let's be realistic here - nobody's gonna pour in the entire sum (or at least a quarter it) for such idealistic purposes , just my thoughts, no offence.

Yes Reliance Jio it is. There office is near by my home too. It will be free for first 3 months then one has to pay.( though will be free on railway station, Bus station, airport and other public places like Sayaji baug etc).


Yes 4G It is. 3G is operational all over for years now( WiFi 3G network is also available through out the city from companies like Digisol and GTPL).

You peeps are real lucky bro. Here's the hoping that rest of India will catch up to you guys asap
