Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is today scheduled to perform the ground breaking of Pakistan -China Optical Fiber Cable Project, which is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This $44 million fiber optic cable is being laid between Pakistan and China and it will become another high-speed international connection to cater to the rapidly growing Internet traffic needs of Pakistan.

We aren’t sure why there’s a ground breaking ceremony today, as the project was planned almost five years ago and is already being worked on under CPEC.

According to the Economic Affaires Division (EAD) China has already released $11.24 million for establishment of Cross-border optic fiber cable.

Estimated Route of Pakistan China Fiber Optic Cable

The task of the project to lay 820 km long cable between Rawalpindi and Khunjrab has been given to Special Communications Organization (SCO), which will be completed in two years.

When completed, this back-haul fiber optic cable will provide Pakistan with a direct telecom access to China, Central Asian States and from there to Europe and to and from the United States.

This back haul fiber optic link was planned long ago and was in fact due for completion by 2015, however, it is now perused under CPEC and may finally get delivered as per promised timelines.

Pakistan is currently connected with the world through four undersea fiber optic cables, while another five are being built and will be operational in the next couple of years.

China and Pakistan have also signed agreements for up-gradation of 1,300-kilometre Karakorum Highway connecting to Islamabad.

In addition to China’s grant, the Exim bank China has agreed to provide the government a concessional loan at an interest rate of 2 percent per annum for cross boarder optic fiber project.

Pakistan will greatly benefit in terms of enhanced security and revenue from the state of the art optic fiber project between Pakistan and China, which will be undertaken by Huawei.

China Punjab Economic Corridor........ hopefully the thing will end in Punjab as well and won't see any ocean or sea.

Calm down, the most developed, populous and hub of the country must first be connected in order to gain maximum benefit as quick as possible. This will then filter to the rest of the country

You cant just run these projects in the hills snd less populated, developed areas in the hope that 2 decades from now they will improve to the point where Pakistan can take benefit

Connect the most important areas of Pakistan first then fan out

.
.
.
Rest of the Country has No Rights to take Benefit of anything . . .
I don't know why are they wasting money on giving them an annual Budget .
.
Well I See Only Punjab in Pakistan in Future . . .

Its the job of the central government to provide economic development but what the hell are the regional governments doing

What is the Definition of Most important areas ?
Those who only Collects Gas. Electricity. water . etc from other Parts of Country ??
.
.
n By Calling Rest of the Country Hills n Not important is Hell of your Ignorance .
Shows Your Mentality about Rest of the PakistaNis (If you consider them Pakistanis)

Im not Punjabi

But I can see punjab contains a big portion of the Pakistani populous, it has some of our major cities, our capital and with populous come our manufacturing base and the economic heart of our country barring karachi

If we are going ahead with CPEC then it first needs to run through these areas so we can get maximum benefit right away and link up our most populous, prosperous areas with most labour available to CPEC so we can get the country m9ving

Once that happens then increase the system to include all of Pakistan

Running CPEC into remote areas with no skilled labour, amenities where our population and business, manufacturing hub are far away is stupid

Hopefully the Benefits and interconnectivity will spread across Pakistan

But it makes perfect reasonable sense to run the projects through Punjab first

wow.. such aggressive and strong words...
this is typical of us Pakistanis.. (i used the word us, which includes majority of us. may be including me at times). We will discuss and fight every single project in Pakistan and especially Punjab. what we do not realize is that Western route being constructed though slow will make a drivable road in virgin and barren land swath of KPK and Balochistan. We want a motorway at a place where there is no paved road either. bhai lets have a dual carriage with proper maintenance and let the locality develop enough to require an expressway or a motorway. The change has to be gradual. people in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan etc are not getting fancy projects from get go. Lahore has gradually moved from underpasses, Jail road renovation, Over head bridges, Widened roads, Beautification, to Metro bus and now to Orange train. These lollipops were given over 2 decades.

Now coming back to the topic of Punjab and Punjab being Pakistan. Rather than me putting arguments and then any other person giving counter arguments let me tell you a 1st hand experience. well i have lived more than 70% of my in Sindh and i can say this for honesty that the overall area education and the mental awareness of the local population also plays an important part at what developments are carried out at the place and what new lollipop are handed over. Sindh is mostly ruled by waderas. No one can do anything about it in a few years. The locals are poor people with resources that can hardly give them a full tummy. Take the example of Ghotki district in Sindh, This district generates the second most revenue for Sindh whereas the local population was in shambles a decade or two ago. The rural roads were in a state as if they have been broken down under contract. We had a chief minister from that district less than a decade ago and all he did was to brick line and deepen the canal so that his lands near the canal end can get irrigated. The local population was given a lollipop of working as a daily wager at various power projects and and fertilizer plants coming up in that locality. That was about a decade ago.
Now currently due to the excessive transportation to and fro from that area (power plants, fertilizers and associated industry) there are numerous road-side hotels, truck points and a flourishing bazar in Daharki, Ghotki and even in Mirpur mathelo. Mobile shops, tire shops, mechanical workshops have seen a mashroom growth. This was not done by any government or by a NGO. They are local people who have set up these points besides the revamped NHA... that too from their meager resources. They compete in providing best food to the drivers. (I have had one of the best chicken karahi of my life in daharki at a truck hotel) What do you think will be the next lollipop in the elections due in 2 yrs. will these people vote for a chance to be inducted as a daily wager only or will they demand something for their families now??? may be a school, a small 20 bed hospital.
Now hopefully in a decade's times we will be in a position to replace the name Ghotki district with DI khan, Hoshab, Turbat etc.

this optic fibre is routed through GB, KPK and upto Rawalpindi. It is a commercial project for CPEC but it has a lot to do with security of the country too . Thats why it is culminating in Rawalpindi .

.
there is no way kpk can be by passed , kpk is there in the route . We must not forget there is already an optic fibre cable already laid down in the country which can be used as well but in northern areas it was missing . Secondly it can purposly used for security communications by our agencies , this was the point which you should understand. Now come to Metro projects in the country . Multan , Karachi ,metros are being built by fed govt . dont u think these are cities of Pakistan ? Gwader is having a deep sea port , air port, CPEC etc . while u discussed about bahawalpur , it is getting connected to Karachi - Peshawar motorway . Things are growing very rapidly.

Yeah Also . Subtract Sindh. south Punjab . Baluchistan n Gilgit Baltistan from it.
Cheers for Punjabitva . As Usual.

CPEC-route-2.jpg

Unless Sindh, South Punjab and GB are situated within Peshawar. Yes these will be out of CPEC.

.
What is The "Security" Reason of Diverting Main Route from Baluchistan n KPK to Punjab .
n
Does Federal Govt of Punjabi Pakistan has any projects like Metro. Orange . Banana etc for Quetta . Hyderabad. MaRdaN or Bahawalpur ?
Just happened yesterday, However was hushed because it gives a bad name to a certain party and part

So despite pushing so called police reforms, things don't seem to be under control. I am not saying anything but the provincial LEAs either lack will or the capacity to handle the situation, by the looks of things.

.
This is a good step. It will provide GB with much needed coverage based on both wired and wireless internet as well as more accessibility with the region. Also this will help improve security as various security agencies can use it as a point of communication to better protect the region.

Hopefully they actually implement the project and complete it. Looks like its been on the shelf for the last five years. Let's hope for the best.
