Greece Officially Joins China’s ”16+1” Partnership With Central and Eastern Europe

Greece officially joined the ”Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries” Group, which had been known as ”16+1,” on Friday.
At the end of Friday’s session, Greece will officially become the seventeenth member of the ”16+1”, which will be renamed the “17+1.”
With the addition of Greece, the number of EU member states participating in the initiative will reach twelve.
The European Union itself participates in the group by sending observers to its meetings.

The Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic welcomed Greece as the seventeenth European member of the Cooperation of Central and Eastern European countries and China in Dubrovnik.
Plenkovic announced during his opening speech to the summit that he had the pleasure of welcoming Greece as a new member of the initiative.
Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras noted that Greece seeks to cooperate with all the participating countries, noting that every decision needs to comply with EU rules and procedures ”in order to promote economic co-growth under this very important framework of cooperation with China.”
