I am sure if you access the websites like the ADB and type in Pakistan you will see all the projects they are funding, organisations have to have accountability even if they provide loans. World Bank also have a country list of projects they are funding. Corruption happens at a lower level when those funds are handed down to construction companies, agents etc this is the core issue.

You are wasting your time. You are dealing with an organized Hitler like movement who's bitching about everything that is being happening for Pakistan's growth. These people haven't paid their taxes for the past 50-60 years, have gotten rich by tax evasions and destroying Pakistan. But yet, they'll blame these projects and any loans and all, which are essential to do the work. The movement they represent, hasn't produced an Egg a day for their country, nor has their leaders even shown some common sense about their understanding of the economy. Let alone "producing" something.

So like the rest of the Pakistan, these people are playing ethnic politics over their nation and country's growth. When a nation goes down to that level that they lie and pay billions worth of corruption to the media to support their lies, you should safely guess that these people have nothing good to offer to their country as their own background comes from blackmailing, land grabbing by using gang force and death threats, etc. So who'd suffer? The rest of the 190 million people who don't want these people running around doing sit-ins like its a children's toy party!!

Common sense would tell them that India, China, Japan, the US all grew economically with loans and support to build projects helping people. Without the funding, you can't expect God's angels to come down and do stuff for free. So if you grew the economy and created many millions of new jobs, the tax payers will increase and so will the economy. Resulting in loans paid back. But they don't want to use common sense and put their national benefits upfront before writing crap on here and spitting crap on TV.

It's the same in India where you have a congress govt people will talk about corruption etc and when bjp comes into power they will slander that party, but people should work for the nation not just look at party lines and divide the country in this way. The issue is not just development but following a sustainable path, building new airports, metros etc does not necessarily better a person's lifestyle if the air they breathe is so polluted what is the benefit of shiny new skyscrapers?

Sir, I am so impressed by your embryonic, immature thinking and poor knowledge.

forget that, however wrong you are, I am impressed that you'd attempt multi syllable words. Next step, learn the meaning.

.
Yes Sir

I believe the last we engaged was in discussion related to Syria and the various factions fighting over there. Are you still keeping up with the conflict? Would love to engage you on the Syrian conflict as lately, i have been paying more and more attention to the matter. Its like a chicken and egg game.

I couldn't agree with you more, economic empowerment is the key to securing our futures. Lately, i have been very disappointed and disheartened. I just came back from a trip to Central and Southern Punjab, and looking at the plight of our farmers has made me very disheartened. These poor farmers are getting slowly slaughtered. The powerful have such choke hold over all the resources, that the poor don't stand a chance. And i am talking about landowners that own 10-12 Acres of Land, predatory lending and political choke-hold over the resources such as water is slowly ruining their lives. I have never been more disappointed in my life.

Yes exactly.

I have been following it intermittently, but what also interests me is the impact on Turkey, which is likely to increase in my opinion. Then a broader perspective is needed for the overall region as slow but subtle changes are taking place and I feel there is an inherent undercurrent which we now see that may well do away with the artificially drawn lines of arab states as a whole. Something in consonance with John Keay in Sowing the Wind?

Anyways, a flame question for you to ponder and look at when you have time - the recent events wherein the two candidates of US presidency - Trump and Hillary, have publicly criticised Pakistan for harbouring and using terror as state policy, the public admission (during their respective primaries) of Pakistan having consistently worked against American objectives resulting in loss of American lives and the raising of their nuclear bogey by both as something that needs to be controlled and checked (in backdrop of Iran nuclear deal, the significant loss of ground of conservatives in Iran and gains for moderates in the recently concluded elections; the commitment of Pakistan to come to Saudi Arabia's defence and the Iran-Saudi 'great game' in middle east). What do you think is the undercurrent/potential ramifications for Pakistan in coming years, if any? Do we see some kind of move to de-stabilize Pakistan on lines of Syria? (one needs to see it with the objective of disruption of CPEC to deny China an alternate conduit for its economy; rendering reliance on Malacca and SLCOs in Indian Ocean and thereby forcing concessions by China in its position on SCS). Anyways, ponder if you have time and are not stuck ... its a flame topic so am not starting a thread as Indian flag will troll the issue without any analysis being done.

Sad about the farmers, the story is true on either side. It is amazing to see forum members berate each country on these indices but the hard fact remains the same - we have inherently common and pressing issues which need to be addressed immediately to avert greater human tragedy as climatic changes kick in. It is better that the countries work together rather than get bogged down in irrelevance.

Anyways, not upto you and I solely to change the thinking!

Thanks

I agree, people should focus on nation building on both sides of the border. Not blame game, loss of productivity and negative politics. At least, in India, you don't have violent sit-ins threatening the government to go every few months when the crazy heads go manic due to their mental issues and extremist ideologies.

Also, people's quality of life is increased by creating jobs and that's easily done in a country like Pakistan, Philippines, Nigeria, and Mexico, by creating the infrastructure. Infrastructure built modern and properly ensures ongoing economic growth (specially in the case of Pakistan with CPEC, etc). Then, the jobs are being created. The Wall Street estimates that there will be a $ 1 trillion housing industry by 2020 in Pakistan. That's huge and they expect some REIT, and ETF's to come out of Pakistan, along with about two dozen public companies, which would benefit from this growth. Meaning hundreds of thousands of new jobs. This will help Pakistan expand her tax net, government revenue and spending on proper places, and will start to reduce the extremism as people will get busy in making $$$$ due to the opportunity and naturally, science, technology from good schools will become preferred education. So maddrassas will lose their place from the distant rural areas.

This strategy has started to work already and will work. One of the SOLE reasons why I am supportive of Pakistan's growth, vs. others who want to pull legs to steal the show and put their name on the economy as its nearing serious growth. This is why I preach "stability" here. But in Pakistan, these leaders are used to stealing power, not following the constitution. And they are hurting their own country without a reason by hampering her growth!!

The article states that heavy borrowing has resulted in the forex reserves to increase to 21 billion. That is simply wrong information. You cannot move borrowed money into the forex reserve fund.

And who lends money without due deligence on how the recipient will pay it back? The borrowed funds are heavily monitored by the IMF, wb etc on where, when and how they will be used.

Let's say for argument sake that NS govt borrowed this money to be put into their own personal accounts. Do you think the lenders are so stupid that would allow NS to do that? Don't they want their money back with nice interest gains?

I mean really? Who Writes these crap immuture articles on complex economic matters.

$1 trillion housing industry in 3 years not including this year? You may want to post that link

Debt servicing is a big issue for the economy in Pakistan, this year would be a crucial time when payments are due.
