Govt. to bring back remains of FF from India

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 4 (BSS) - State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (Rtd) Tajul Islam today informed the Jatiya Sangsad that the government had taken steps to bring back remains of freedom fighters, who were buried in India during the country's great War of Liberation in 1971.
"We have already identified 3,500 graves of freedom fighters in India and after identifying those we have made all out efforts to bring back their remains and rebury them in Bangladesh," he said.
Making statement on a call attention notice moved by
treasury bench member H N Ashiqur Rahman, the state minister told
the House that the government had also taken steps to construct a
National War Cemetery in the country and rebury the valiant sons
of the soil there so that family members and relatives could pay
respect to the freedom fighters.
In this connection, he apprised the House that the
government has constituted a committee on March last to identify
the graves of freedom fighters in India. The committee members
have already visited India and identified 3,500 graves of freedom
fighters there.
Giving details, Tajul said the slain freedom fighters would
be identified through DNA test.
