A complete ban of imports will lead to stagnation and non competitiveness of local industry. You need to keep a balance between the two. Secondly Pakistani middle class standard of living will decrease and you will lose duty revenue collected at imports.

The regime change basically has put the economy in a tailspin- PTI whether you like it or not had brought the economy on a sustainable growth path based on exports. They took all the tough decisions and kept the country going.
Here we have SS crying to Army for help otherwise he wont negotiate with IMF and let the country default !

So many of those items could be made in Pakistan, and they will be smuggled. In Ajk we have Mega Mart where all British items are sold at UK Prices.

My comment was not about the capability of the administration to effectively enforce the ban. It was merely a prediction on how some partisan members of this community would have recieved the ban if it was announced by the opposite camp.
