This is a remote Tibetan herding community, all the locals are herders
This year's National Day gift, Every household is given a free washing machine.

This shows even in the remotest Tibetan herding communities, they have stable electricity and running water service, without electricity and running water, washing machines are useless.

India does the same. They give soap to the South Tibetans, on India's Independence Day.

When I was in XinJiang, in the neighborhood I visited often, before every 'Id al-Adha, every Uyghur family got a sheep, which they would tie it on a tree near-by before slaughtering it on that day. It was quite a scene.

Wouldn't it be considered an insult? "You dirty bastards. Now wash yourself!" :D

In poor regions, they get government free "poverty alleviation sheep" 扶贫羊

First time each poor family gets around 15 sheep, afterward they get couples of more pregnant sheep every a couple of years.
