Did you mean to say that Airbus can only offer the Eurofighter Typhoon?
Because, yes, that is true.

But, the German Air Force has already worked with Airbus on defining new requirements for a replacement of the Tornado.
This was done for the Next Generation Weapon System future fighter program.
The new jet will be a 6th generation jet fighter named 'Next Generation Fighter' developed by Airbus and Dassault.
It will be a replacement of the Eurofighter Typhoon.

So, if they choose Airbus they can replace the Tornado's with this new fighter jet instead of the Eurofighter Typhoon.
See pictures below for models of the jet.

And the order goes to Boeing, obviously.

. .
The replacement order for the Tornados need to be nuclear capable. The Typhoon is not presently and would require work to meet that capability. Its part of their commitments to NATO.

. . . . . .
You know they won't take the Super Hornet. And they intentionally eliminated the F-35 because Germany really wants the Typhoon.

F-35 was built to replace F-16. Typhoon was built to replace Tornado. Makes sense they would choose Typhoon to replace Tornado.

They can use nuclear weapons under NATO.
Germany wants share, Germany wants the technology.. Einfach.

If your president can put significant pressure on Germany to buy American, then it is highly possible that Airbus Deutschland and Boeing could collaborate, breaking the Franko-German alliance.
