Germany Gets Slammed as Berlin Fails to Fulfil LNG Contract with India | Europe Energy Crisis

.
well Sefe is a subsidiary of Gazprom besides Sefe is paying the 20% contractual penalty for missed delivery so the Indians have no legal recourse.

India can buy cheap gas directly from Russia so why is it so desperate for supplies routed via Germany at expensive spot market prices.

Indian media is very hostile to EU currently. Europeans have pointed out Indian double standards....India wants EU assistance against China but won't reciprocate when EU wants assistance against Russia.

IMO, USA and western strategists have put too much faith in India geopolitically. As I pointed out in this forum.........India is still non aligned and only seeks conflict with Pakistan. If push comes to shove in the Indo-Pacific.......India will stay out of the fray. USA strategists will be quite disappointed, IMO.

Well Indians have dreams of ascending to global sole superpower status as silly as that sounds. They believe with Russia out of the way, the US will eventually target India. None of the above is a surprise really, the US is just giving India the rope it needs to hang itself with. On current trajectory, when India finds itself at war with China the US will offer kind words of encouragement and remind the Indians of all the missed opportunities the US afforded India to strengthen its hand against China. The Chinese need to blood their troops and India is on the menu - it's only a matter of time and with Russia out of the picture I'm sure Xi is salivating at the prospect.

Russian debacle in Ukrainian has significantly constrained India's strategic options.
India is better off bending its knee to Emperor Xi and settling its border disputes with China by ceding its territory. Which leaves Pakistan in a precarious position.

Like Putin and his Ukraine misadventure, Emperors Xi is looking to overshadow Mao's legacy and he needs a memorable achievement and a low hanging fruit. the border dispute with India is one such opportunity.

Soviets/Russia has been out of picture since 1980s
After Chinese loss to Vietnam in 1978, Chinese celebrated the fact that no Soviet intervention occurred and attempted trying their luck on Indian border in 1987 (while India was busy Pakistan in Siachen). This failed
Sumdorong Chu standoff

Only difference since then is India has been building ties with USA - BECA, CISMOA, QUAD etc
Question is will USA miss out a chance to prove Russia as an unreliable supplier during war time for India and also will Chinese adversaries on the East not take advantage of Chinese distraction?

Note this happened around Jun 22, 2020.

Around the same time frame when this happened

It's worse.

India isn't just looking to simply pick a fight with Pakistan, they're looking to dominate the region, and if they grow big enough economically and militarily, they'll look to challenge the top spot globally.

That has always been their hegemonic goal. That's why they keep talking nonsense about becoming a super power, and while they don't outright say it they consider the US a potential future rival.

This is why I laugh when an American or European talks about India being an ally. It is foolish thinking.

India does not, never has and never will consider the US and EU an ally. India simply has too many conflicting interests with them.

Shaming Germany who was continuously barking against India for buying oil from Russia 'and funding its war against Ukraine' for not giving much needed alternate energy supplies. India will continue buying energy from Russia as it is.

Soviets/Russia has been out of picture since 1980s
Not at all, Indian military equipment was predominantly Soviet origin in the 1980's and India is still reliant on Russian spares but to a lesser degree today. As for China's invasion of Vietnam in 1979, Soviet Union was firmly in Vietnam's corner and the PLA's most effective combat units were positioned facing Russia to deter a Soviet attack. Today, China doesn't have to worry about a crippled Russia to the north a Russia's whose very survival depends on Chinese largesse.

India will continue buying energy from Russia as it is.
good luck with that..

India is doing what everyone is doing in a geopolitical sense. Which is to take advantage by aligning to whoever camp that can offer. As a regional power, India is overshadowed by another regional power in the area, what India doing is to maximize their chances by basically befriending everyone, making sure that they survive.

There are only 1 of the 2 ways a regional power can go. They either exert their might and dominate every challenge, or they united/align with like minded nation and collectively repel this domination. China is being the former, India is being the later.

On the other hand, while India is "using" US or EU for their role toward to further their advancement, US and EU also are "using" India to balance the power of China. Which also suited India.

I would say US and EU consider India as "Partner" not an ally, as it does not really benefit US and EU to ascent their relationship between US/EU and India to allies level. The relationship dynamic exists simply due to the act of connivence, once that connivence is gone for either or both side, That relationship ceased to exist.

US knows this already but they don't mind India being an ally temporarily to serve their interests, and also they don't see India being as much of a global threat to them as China is

the only problem with your analysis is that China will be bigger than India. The choice for US/Europe is whether they want India to ally with China, be neutral or be with them

No lol you're understanding is wrong. It is very European thinking to assume China wants to "blood" its troops by initiating a war with India. That's how you would do it.

Xi may at most extreme be what you suggest, trying to establish some legacy. That's the most extreme of what he might be genuinely aiming for. So ... not necessarily true or accurate.

India is no opportunity. It will bring Xi and China no glory or purpose to have a war with India even a victorious one where Arunachal Pradesh is taken from India. China's claim on Arunachal Pradesh mirrors India's claim on Aksai Chin. Because India claimed Aksai Chin, China responded diplomatically with an equally outrageous claim on a land India has always basically controlled. Or rather a stretch to a temple that is the birthplace of a Lama. Kashmir to India has higher cultural significance due to India being more religious than China and more connected to its historic religious figures and their birthplaces.

Basically China has little to gain because the Arunachal claim to the temple is a token claim so that China has a claim on India in the same way India has made a claim on China (Aksai Chin). Xi's assumed aim for legacy at most extreme would be Taiwan related, NOT India related. But I wonder if it takes a certain kind of person to realize this.

We can make a bet here with a timeframe and war between India and China like you claim. There is much higher chance if China initiates any war, it would be war on Taiwan for ending Chinese civil war and reunifying China. War with India is crazy pointless. At most there would be some limited skirmishes. Even the most confrontational went on without even shooting and now both sides have at least some agreements on buffers which can prevent those from happening.
