Berlin. The Department of Defense announced several deployment decisions this Tuesday (December 10). According to information from the Ministry, eight properties that should actually be closed should stay in operation longer than planned. The airfield Hohn near Rendsburg in Schleswig-Holstein should now be used permanently by the Bundeswehr. The CDU / CSU defense politician Ingo Gädechens welcomed the decision: "It is good news for Schleswig-Holstein that the properties are used longer or permanently. The Bundeswehr is growing up again, so the decision to deploy is correct. "

There is also something new in the area of the armed forces base: two new regiments are being set up in Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. The city of Burg in Saxony-Anhalt will become the home of logistics regiment 1. From 2023, logistics companies and the staff company should support NATO's Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF). The regiment will in future lead logistics battalions 161 and 163 from Delmenhorst, 171 from Burg and 172 from Beelitz. The full operational capability of the regiment should be achieved according to BMVg in early 2023.

With the new ABC Defense Regiment 1 at the Strausberg location in Brandenburg, the national defense in eastern Germany is to be strengthened. By 2022, the new regiment should reach the so-called Erstbefähigung, the full operational capability by 2027.

In the Navy, the supply vessels "Elbe" and "Danube" leave their former home port Rostock and stationed in Kiel. The move should be completed by the end of March 2021.
