Geeta, girl stranded in Pakistan, returns home today
"Geeta will come back to India on October 26. Five members of Edhi Foundation will come with her, who will be treated as state guests," said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
Geeta, a deaf-mute woman now in her early 20s, will depart for New Delhi, today early morning. Geeta was around 11 years old when she inadvertently crossed the border from India to Pakistan, and lost her family. (Source: AP)
Geeta, the speech and hearing impaired girl living in Pakistan, will return to India on Monday, over a decade after accidentally crossing the border.

The young girl will be received by Pakistani diplomats at the Indira Gandhi International airport on Monday morning. She will meet Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in the afternoon. Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit will also host her in the evening.

Geeta will be accompanied by members from the Edhi Foundation, which looked after her across the border. An Indian diplomat from the High Commission in Islamabad will also accompany her.
