Pakistan seems to be cheaper than most of the world ... Most of the countries in cheap list are self sufficient in it
The countries like KSA have been subsidizing the oil for her residents, but now they plan to withdraw it. Lower oil price pass through can be highly deflationary so governments tend to pass it either in lags or in partial to create a balance.

Darn that priceline for Pakistan from post #20 screams artificial!

Could anyone give or find us a review of the motivations of government control?
Is it strictly economic, linked to a particular program/vision or a revenue source?

Thanks in advance, Tay.

Fuel taxes are a huge cash cow for the government.

Sucks to be on the west coast then. Cant complain sitting in the energy capital though, gas is cheap and my Truck is happy.

The countries (developed) have vast storage capacity , they are buying cheap oil from Saudis and charging same High price from its consumers

If Saudi economy tanks its their own fault for over production

Ours isn't low. It should be lower because in the Pakistani rupee the cost is heavy for the average person, particularly rikhshaws and taxis. It is still cheaper than petrol though.

List is about Gasoline (gas or patrol) not natural gas which is very cheap in North America

dont blame Saudis for it, every 3rd country was pumping gas to their limits and were expecting Saudis to lower their output to control prices...Saudis finally had enough and decided to take out all the competition

sir , the fall in crude price is one aspect and domestic currency value against dollar is another point taken into consideration while calculating the price of crude in respective country , as in the case of india and pakistan , our real benefit was limited due weak rupee against the dollar in both countries

Thanks Syed.Ali.Haider mate! That's what I had surmised.

And to @mirage about above post, yes, I understand your point which is valid & true
but I was referring to the absence of market fluctuations in Pakistan's priceline.
India obviously also has central control but more adjustments including two ups only
versus three down, positive for the customer. Here, we got one change and it went up!

As for the reserves mentioned by AzadPak/09, they're not called strategic without rhyme.
In addition to allowing a couple weeks of activity around the country including military,
the cash that is gained by playing them as you described is a weapon in and of itself.

Good day all, Tay.
