Gas pipeline blown up in Pakistan

Suspected militants blew up a gas pipeline in Pakistan's Balochistan province Wednesday, an official said.

Militants planted an improvised explosive device (IED) close to a gas pipeline in the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district Wednesday, Dawn online reported citing a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

He said the IED exploded with a considerably loud blast, blowing up 16-inch diameter gas pipeline in the area.

"Gas supply to Sui purification plant has been suspended after the blast," the official was quoted as saying.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. However, the official suspected the Baloch insurgents operating in the area to be behind the incident. Gas pipeline blown up in Pakistan | Business Standard

IPI did not happen because India did not trust pakistan and Pakistan backstabbed Iran. Indian government simply couldn't sign an agreement where it was responsible to the offtakers for ensuring the gas supply while Pakistan refused to do the same. Ultimately, Pakistan was never serious about the economic potential of the pipeline but was using it only as a leverage over India. Once India pulled out, there was no apparent benefit for Pakistan, so they starting cribbing about sanctions although Iran has been under sanctions since 1979.

On the same "related topic" you note, petty, immature games when China offers to foot much of the cost of pipelines and railroad spurs from new Port of Gwaddar, which China largely funded, are downright stupid in the face of real needs which economic growth via fuels will bring solutions to...more money for housing, hospitals, outpatient healthcare, roads, bridges, y ou name it.

With Russia the latest "immature child" in the form of Mr. Putin, China is an even bigger developer of oil, gas, and resources to distribute same going now...even the US will have to stand by if and when Iran, Pakistan, India and China force the logical business conclusions re pipelines and railroad transit across Pakistan to both India and China.

Of course it is largely up to Iran to be more down to earth and humble and to open itself up to non-religious good old worth ethic and making a better living for all her people.

Right now Iran is in it's worst economic depression in my lifetime and I am now 74.
