Gas crisis : Textile exporters warn of relocating to other countries

Gas shouldnt be used for captive plants to produce power period...

They should be given cheaper power

They want get gas even in bengladesh..they are welcomed to leave

Yes they may leave to bemgaldesh for other reasons like cheaper labour more reliable electricity less bottle necks at ports etx

If "BLACK MAILING" had a face.

Even on tiny things they start to black mail. They can move to wherever they want. They restarted industry in Pakistan not out of patriotism for Pakistan but for "PROFITS".

Pakistan is the most profitable of any country in the region, they ll never relocate to Bangladesh or China given the incentives they are getting in Pakistan.

Its just black mailing tactics. Every time government asks for tax returns half of the business community goes to strike. No one wants to pay tax, follow guidelines and standards and still want progress.

1. are you an industrialist ?

2,.are you running a textile unit ?
Thank you honorable judge of Supreme court of Pakistan for your judgement.

But I want to bring into your kind knowledge that Karachi is facing severe gas shortages since last winter and even one MNA of PTI visited an industrial area and assured them that the issue will be resolved soon , which has not been resolved till now .

If you are in Karachi , please be my guest and I will take you to industrial areas to see the agony people are facing.

PTI fanboys - living in illusions and denials

what can we do sir

.
if true, this is a serious f*** up by govt

zardari haraam khor and then PML N scuttled iran gas project and went to expensive LNG from qatar, and now we have to bear the brunt of their decisions

pti , sadly, is doing no better

iran will never supply pakistan with cheap natural gas

. .
you just lost in Afghanistan,

better focus on destroying the equipment which is falling into Taliban hands as we speak

completely irrelevant to the topic at hand - Iran won't supply pakistan with natural gas at below market rates

Textile units use gas for production of steam which softens the fabric so it can dyed and processed easily, electricity is by-product for textile industry. Before feeding steam to machines they feed steam to turbines to produce electricity.

i think its you who is irrelevant

you just got kicked out of the region, pak is not even giving you even an air strip for drones , you have no say anymore,

you came to the region only to destabilize iran, pak ... those dreams are now shattered, buried in the graveyard of empires along with your burnt MRAps and HMMVES

as for iran , they are already supplying crude BELOW market prices to china

As demand increases, this March, Chinese imports of Iranian oil are expected to reach levels of 856,000 bpd, an increase of 129 percent on February. The sudden influx of Iranian oil is reported to have caused congestion in ports as tankers are offloaded.

China is drawn to Iranian oil thanks to its low costs, often priced at between $3 to $5 below the Brent benchmark.

Imports from Iran have decreased substantially across Asia, particularly to China, India, Japan and South Korea, since 2018 following the sanctions imposed on the country under the Trump Administration. However, China’s uptake of Iranian oil over the last few months suggests this trend is likely to change under the new Biden Administration.

iran needs pakistan more than the opposite . its upto our leadership how well they negotiate with the persians !

That is true to some degree, but the sooner we realize we dont have gas like before and the demand has outpaced production of natural gas, no one can do anything.

Most of them are not willing to let go of captive power plants or use RLNG for that purpose.

I have seen a trend towards solar recently which is their only hope if they want off grid solutions. Captive power plants and cheap local natural gas are going to be history in the near future.

Loosers will cry and winners will improvise like arristic millenials or indus motors, list goes on and on.

He is an indian bro.

Anyways do we have refineries that can take in iranian crude instead of arab blends?

IMO that is the reason why Saudi Arabia is investing in an oil refinery.

Textile makers and exporters on Saturday threatened to relocate their manufacturing units to other countries because of the gas supplies crisis in Karachi, hitting hard the industrial output.

This decision came at the meeting of textile exporters held at the PHMA House Karachi on Saturday June 26, according to Jawed Bilwani, Chief Coordinator, Pakistan Apparel Forum.

At the meeting, they constituted their due-diligence committee to look into the relocating their manufacturing units to some other foreign venues since gas supplies have dried down.

The committee is assigned to negotiate on the exporters’ demand with the countries having much better business and export friendly policies besides offering the most attractive incentives to their foreign investors.

Since June 11, 2021, Bilwani said that the gas supplies have dried down to the manufacturing units, bringing production to a halt.

For 99 working days in the fiscal year 2020-21, he said, gas either supplied with a low pressure or remained suspended to the industries.

Some industries having the RLNG connections are striving hard by paying higher bills of Rs1533 per MMBTU just to save the export orders deal, despite a costlier output, he said. He said that how industries can work without the basic raw materials, including gas. There is no chance that the textile export industries will get the required gas smoothly with adequate pressure in future, he added.
