The ₹980 crore railway line project between Agartala in Tripura and Akhaura in Bangladesh will be completed by December, a senior official said on August 15.

The 15.6-km-long railway link will connect Gangasagar in Bangladesh to Nischintapur in India, and from Nischintapur to Agartala railway station. Nischintapur has a transhipment yard, the first in the northeast region, and the passengers coming from Bangladesh will be de-boarded there. The incoming goods will also be offloaded at Nischintapur.
"Work on the Indian side has already been completed. The work on the Bangladesh side was stopped due to the COVID-related lockdown, but it will resume from Monday," Raman Singla, Deputy Chief Engineer of IRCON International Ltd., the executing agency for the construction of the project told PTI.
"The entire project would be completed by December this year," he said.

The Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) is bearing the cost for laying the track on the 5.46 km link on the Indian side, and the cost of laying the 10.6-km-long track on the Bangladesh side is being borne by the Ministry of External Affairs, the official said.

Let me guess 16th December.

How small are your egoes?

This rail line is very important for India. It will link Kolkata with Northeast India via Bangladesh. Earlier Kolkata people had to take a long route via narrow chicken neck corridor to go to Northeast India.

The new rail line will connect Kolkata and Tripura (Northeast India).

The project is entirely funded by India. They are making 10 km rail line inside Bangladesh and 5 km inside India by their own funding. Bangladesh is not spending any money for the project. It's an Indian project.

.
Indo Bangla relations would have been terrible if these pdf Bangladeshis had any impact on policy making of Bangladesh. I don't know if it's just the disgruntled lot that assemble here for slandering India.

I do request other Indian members not to call Bangladeshis derogatory names because of the few kids who think they are running Bangladesh in their morning dreams.

.
Bullshit nonsensical crap......BD must ensure to tax the street shitters using this crappy line to make it worth our while.

It is international rail line. It's completely funded by India. It's 1000 cr project by India. Bangladesh has not spent a penny for the rail line. Why would India give tax for using this line? Bangladesh and India are ally forever. We are blood brothers.

It's their rail line to connect Mainland India with North East India using Bangladesh route. It will drastically shorten the distance between Kolkata to Agartala. It's a lifeline for Northeast India.

I am Pro India Bangladeshi. Not all Pdf Bangladeshis hate India. I love India.

Bangladesh will soon become a transit and connectivity route for Northeast India. Without Bangladesh it very hard for India to connect Northeast with Mainland India.

There are many projects currently running to connect Bangladesh with Northeast India via road, rail and sea route.

Feni bridge is completed already. It will give Tripura access to Chittagong sea port. The road construction in Khagrachori currently going on in full speed to connect Northeast with Chittagong sea port.

Agartala - Akhaura rail line is soon to be completed. It will link Kolkata and Agartala.

Padma Bridge' is soon to be completed. It will shorten the Dhaka-Kolkata travel time. It will take only 3 hours to reach Dhaka from Kolkata.

There are other projects currently in planning stage to further improve connectivity between two nations.

Our father of the nation said in a public speech that Hindustan is not our enemy. They are our brothers. Why would they be our enemy? They are our ally.
