The Sheikh was wrong to say pledging allegiance to Yazid was obligatory and I have never heard any other Sunni sheikhs coming to such a conclusion. When it comes to Yazid all Muslims usually say he was scum of the highest order. Besides even if allegiance was payed to him if he was a bad ruler than rebellion is obligatory if he refuses to step down as it was for all Caliphs.
