French authorities take children away from Muslim couple over “jihad suspicions”

A French Muslim couple have had their five children taken away from them after the father was apparently mistakenly suspected of leaving for Syria to fight jihad.

The French authorities, which are on high alert following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January, took the children away from their mother in Bourgoin Jallieu near Lyon last Thursday.

At the time the father, Meher Msakni, was in Tunisia but he immediately returned home to France upon hearing the news.

Msakni told 5Pillars editor Roshan Muhammed Salih that his wife was told by the authorities that he was suspected of radicalism and of having the intention of going to fight jihad in Syria.

But Msakni said he never had any such intention and was instead in Tunisia (his country of origin) preparing to move his family there because they could “no longer practise Islam in France.”

He added that despite repeated requests to see his children, he had been denied permission to do so and is still unaware of where they are being kept. The children are aged 6, 5, 4, 18 months and 3 months.

5Pillars editor Roshan Muhammed Salih visited the police station in Bourgoin Jallieu on Monday but they refused to comment on the case.

The Lyon-based Coalition against Racism and Islamophobia (CRI) said the mother, Aicha, received a visit fromthe police and social services on Thursday and on the orders of the judicial authorities they took three of the younger children. The older ones were separately picked up from their school.

According to CRI, while this was taking place the mother was panicked and crying and was begging the authorities to let her breastfeed her 3 month old son.

“Unimaginable cruelty”

In a statement CRI said: “With unimaginable cruelty and violence, the children were taken to an unknowndestination with devastating consequences for their psycho-emotional state, and without being able to see their mother.

“Alerted, the father returned the next day to France without being bothered in the least by either the Customs, nor by the PAF (Air and Frontier Police).

“We learned with amazement that the mother wanted to breastfeed her baby with her own milk and had provideda bottle for this which was refused by the police who responded ‘powdered milk will be given.’

“We are appalled by the inhumanity of separating a breastfed baby of 3 months from her mother, and to deny that breast milk be given. The mother, who is accused of nothing, asked to be locked up, if necessary, with her baby so she can breastfeed and beat his side. Even if the father is the worst of criminalswe do not understand this ferocity towards the wife and children.

“We condemn this unhealthy and dangerous climate andhold accountable politicians, media and intellectuals who have exploited the dramatic events we have experienced, and are playing with fire by allowing the spread of Islamophobia. Since the attacks of 7 January 2015 we have received more than 200 calls from Muslims who have been assaulted.

“CRI calls for the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry to measure the extent of this new form of racism and legislation to protect the Muslims of France who have become scapegoats.”

The Charlie Hebdo and other attacks in January killed 17 people. Since then many observers feel that France has been in a state of hysteria with Muslims being targeted on a regular basis.

The French media, especially, tends to focus on “radicalism” and “extremism” within the Muslim community and hardly touches on issues such as Islamophobia, racism and foreign policy.

These low life french maggots, whose society is an epitome of bigotry are showing their true barbaric colors. Btw this heinous crime by french terrorist state didn't even get a mention in any of western free speech advocating media outlets. Goes to show the kind of 2 faced bigots these westerners are.

Deep filosofical comment .+1

Isn't 5pillars just as reliable as his mirror counterpart jihadwatch ?

French terror state took away muslim kids including a 3 month old from their parents. The parents have been denied access to their children violating human rights and the stated values of french and european hypocrites. There's no going around it.

Allegedly.I see no other source rather than a dubious site, just as reliable as the likes of jihadwatch.

You see ? There is going around it,with ease, you just have to focus.:-)

Taking 3 month olds from their mother under any circumstance can never be justified. French r know bigots and this situation is bringing their worst out of them. Btw muslims have been legally ghettoized by the french terror state and suffer trauma on a daily basis. These liberty advocating hypocrites were never nice to their muslim minorities.

We are nice, but there are some limits.
Also,i think that this news is more bs than anything else.

Do those limits include taking 3 month old from their mother and preventing the familiy to migrate to another country?

Btw its not BS just bcs faux news didn't report it. How abt a statement from french authorities denying the incident if its indeed BS?

That's the West for you. I remember Brits were searching for parents who took their child away from a British hospital and took the child abroad so that the child could get treatment for the illness as British doctors were unable to determine what the illness was.

Jeez, the Bangladeshi members here are done with India and are now focusing on France. Hmm I wonder whether they will start polevaulting to France now as well since they always flock en masse to countries which they despise :undecided:

Ashya King's parents: we told hospital we would take our son abroad | UK news | The Guardian

This I assume, not quite the way you put it and its one isolated case, they wanted proton therapy which in the childs case was not really necessary but the parents didn't want him to have radiotherapy, the UK does pay for proton therapy but they are sent to the US as we dont have the facilities here, they simply just took their kid and vanished, which is fine but probably best to let the hospital who is treating him for a brain tumour know that.

And they even have a quote at the end of the article that it took me 30 seconds to surmise that from that is appropriate for the news article this thread is about.

Information without perspective is just a higher form of ignorance

Something that almost every South Asian on here should probably learn from whenever they read a title and jump straight into the deep end.

I wouldn't jump to a conclusion based on this news alone, only one source, 5pillars, is reporting it. But I know people on the receiving end of some European authorities' 'intervention', so I wouldn't be surprised if this news is true.

Good. Values and culture moves from parents to children. Sometimes the only way to save children from being raised with barbaric values is to take them from their parents.
Yeah, yeah, 'barbaric values' such as breastfeeding and having children. How barbaric. Besides, you'd be violating your precious 'human rights' by detaining children like that and violating their and their parent's right to freedom of movement.
If even a few percent more of Westerners thought like you, the whole place would be a totalitarian hell hole, the same kind you bash to give yourself a sense of moral superiority.
