10. This time around, there will be 136 French soldiers marching alongside their Indian counterparts. As the Indian Army discovered, they march at a much slower pace of 106 beats per minute compared to 120 beats per minute that the Indian contingents will march at. The French have been asked to put in extra practice sessions.

That's the first time ever that a foreign flag has been seen on Rajpath road. Quite a historic moment. Maybe it signals a turning point in India's foreign relations, and we will see increased trade and co-operation with France and other European nations.

actually marching for indian prade is 120 beats...but for french it was 108 beats...so they have practiced fast to mach indian republic day parade!

Actually the army is looking to replace the Famas (As they are pretty old and couldn't be upgraded anymore)
If i remember,the choice will be made this year and the first units will be delivered in 2017. (First batch of 5.340 AIF to be ordered this year.)

The candidates are ;

The HK-416 by H&K.
The Scar by FN Herstal.
The Vhs-2 by HS.
The ARX-160 by Beretta.
And Swiss Arms,but don't remember the version they are proposing.

Apparently,the Scar is the one prefered by the army,but of course wait&see....
