Forces battle shortage of 'fighting rank' officers

Very worrying for the indians, we on the other hand, with a large and complex insurgency and terrorist problem, have no problem recruiting officers, in fact we have the pick of Officer Cadets, all the courses are over subscribed, and the recruitment boards, can be really picky.

True, I'm willing to bet we have the most experienced, battle hardened and seasoned officers in all of our immediate region.
However, this did come at a price, this sort of abstract war we're fighting means many officers have been martyred, more than you'd expect from a normal conflict.

The only dream that i ever dreamed about since my childhood day was to be a commissioned officer in the Indian Army.I prepared hard for over a year when i was in class 12 but then i came to know that my corrected vision was a bit more than what they had asked for in the application form and hence even though i was physically quite fit and healthy i couldn't join the Army:tsk::cry:!!But now i am going to correct that mistake by joining the W.B.Police Service:P(i have already cleared the 1st stage of the exam, preparing for the next level)

My best Wishes to serve under MaMata Begum ji ;)

Sometimes I feel our standards on height are ridiculous. We neglect to realize there are strong capable ppl who are short in height.

No, conscription is not being considered in anyway shape or form.

Mandatory military training (effectively NCC) for all school children is a different matter all together and possibly a good idea.

Why did Congress shooot the idea of mandatory military training down? Its not the same as NCC entirely. If it was we could just enroll more into NCC.
