As a Pakistani i hold no respect for those from our lands who fought the Ottomans. Even Though, today we understand under what conditions they were fighting under as an occupied people.

but at the same time dont you think that they deserve respect, as they defended places that are parts of Pakistan today ??? :undecided:

Yes, Pakistan's predecessor state was India.

:hitwall: dude it was BRITISH INDIA !!!!! India did not exist before the partition !!!!

. .
Those times were dark times. Most of it was our fault. We ought to learn from history and reclaim our rightful place.

Duh!

if you want to find the homes and graves of those soldiers from Pothohar in particular and Punjab/KP in general, who fought gallantly in WW-1, where would you go?

Utah state?

Why even post such an ignorant comment?

Why?

.
Pakistan was always here but was called by different names.

Pakistan came into being in 1947, and there was no such entity prior to that year.

Yes, Pakistan's predecessor state was India.

Are you retarded/Indian?

You could say theoretically "British India" was one of Pakistan's predecessor states but only from 1843-1947.

Ha ha..

This one is in the wrong section ! Predecessor States....... !

The Sikh Rulers too were in the same ' Predecessor States" !

Sikh empire was Pakistan's predecessor state before british occupation.

You will regret trolling.
That is your opinion. @Oscar @WebMaster

I can elaborate and ask you what was Pakistan in say the 18th century for example.
I would not generally care about threads in the Pakistan section - I never do. I did in this case because the post is about British Indian Army men who fought and died shoulder to shoulder and did their duty to the best of their abilities. True, they were under a colonial power, but as a soldier they fought honorably.

They had a bad employer, but that does not necessarily make all of them bad employees.

You could say theoretically "British India" was one of Pakistan's predecessor states but only from 1843-1947. Todays Pakistan was conquered by British between 1843-1849 and added to "British India". 1947, so 100 years later british occupation came to the end and we took our country as the islamic state Pakistan out like it was before British occupation.

Sikh empire was Pakistan's predecessor state before british occupation.

Yes but the people of Pakistan have lived here for over 9000 years.

They were mercenaries who were used as cannon fodder by a colonial empire which was busy killing our people through systematic famine at the same time.

But there was no such thing as Pakistan at the time of the First World War!

Our difference in POVs in this matter is only minimal. My objection was not to this point, but to 'Pakistan being there for a long time'. That is incorrect. That's all.

Sounds much like sympathy for .. lets say the gestapo.. or a henchman of Spectre. All these people had families as well.
