First Wholesale Club opens in Bangladesh: Imitates Costco

This store is clearly for the metropolitan elite in dhaka.... it will take a decade if not several before small retailers are going to be impacted in my opinion.

Speaking about UK costcos are few. I shop there for stuff like non perishable items like toilet rolls that makes sense to buy in bulk. Rarely you need to go these places and buy ridiculous things like 20kg of salt or kg tins of tuna..i guess restaurants go there.
In North America many small convenience store and online store purchase in bulk from Costco and resell the products.

Yes Costco's are rare - they used to be for commercial customers only but they've opened to public via membership since.

You're right, the impact on retail may not be fast, but it is inevitable I think.

Ps are you still in the UK? What part?

This logo is same as Costco in USA.

Is there any affiliation with Costco or they are too lazy to come up with new logo.

There is apparently no direct affiliation with Costco - but they carry a lot of 'Kirkland' brand items which are only sold by Costco as an exclusive brand.

Logo is similar to Costco for a reason - a lot of expatriates know this brand from visits to US and other places. They are expecting the same membership model for purchases.

I heard its a good store. They should open at least 50 more all over bd and dhaka. This will reduce expenses and cut down middle man. Ultimately every one wins.
But, the look says this market is for wholesale and probably it will not do retail. On the other hand, COSTCO does retail but the quantities of each purchase are quite large.

They are probably buying the Kirkland brand from Costco and reselling it at the store ! 200000 square feet store in Prime area in Dhaka by any means is huge.
