Italy is next Greece with high debt and budget deficit but they keep increasing defense budget. Italy with aging population and high social costs must control is spending and 90 F-35 are to much for Italy due to bad economy.

Do you know of any Italian products? Now, do you know of any Greek products?

Your attempt at reducing Italy's example to that of Greece is pretty much uninformed. No other way to say it. The structure of the economy is also quite different. It has a more or less solid core that has up to now been able to service the aging population.

Norway Stronk!

:yahoo:Once the US agreed (back in 2012) to help us integrate our JSM into the F-35, we agreed to buy some:

Norway orders F-35As after securing JSM integration support

We're increasing our budget right now, in light of Russia's recent "issues", so I'm hopeful the 52 planned (60 billion NKr cost for the total 52 aircraft lot) will become a reality. Unlike Italy, we aren't having a economic problems.

Still, our orders remain tepid at best, but progress is being made.

The aging population problem is more and more of a myth.Yes,it will happen but all in all it's not a problem because unemployement is allready high in Europe, being a developed areea automatisation will be ever more in demand so the need for human labour simply isn't there. In fact, reducing the number of humans in an allready overcrowded Europe isn't such a bad thing and the GDP per capita won't shrink but rise making the individual wealthier. We may have the social problem with the pension funds but that can also be handled with smart taxation ,especially on lucrative corporations.

We plan to buy 2,457!:usflag:

:lol:Not if the Navy has anything to say about it. They seem high on their growler and F/A-XX follow-on programs, but rather low on the F-35.

F-35Cs Cut Back As U.S. Navy Invests In Standoff Weapons | Defense content from Aviation Week

They may still buy the F-35s that were cut from the 2016-2020 period, but they are at-least pushing back that purchase in favor of other programs.

The United States Navy doesn't seem to like the F-35 much.

The Marines on the other hand:

Well, they seem to love it:usflag:.

Oh, and since I work for the company, buy the NSM for your F-35s:yahoo::

Pentagon wants large-scale, international F-35 block buy
12:44 p.m. EDT May 29, 2015

The Defense Department wants to buy up to 450 F-35s in a three-year block buy beginning in 2018, a move that requires congressional approval and would let the U.S. and partner militaries begin to see savings by providing contractors with a bigger commitment to the aircraft.

Frank Kendall, defense undersecretary for acquisition, told reporters Friday following the annual F-35 CEO meeting in Oslo, Norway, that the block buy plan would drive down costs and increase fielding of the jet in both the U.S. and international community.

"It allows industry to plan with some confidence in the next few years of production," Kendall said. "As we are moving into '15, '16 and '17 we are also increasing production rates. By '18 you get to a number that makes it a lot more attractive to talk about economies of scale."

A multiyear commitment to a large number of jets would also show partner nations the benefits of committing to the program, Kendall said. The F-35 Joint Program Office is still waiting to hear whether Canada and Denmark will buy the F-35. All of the other partners expressed interest in participating in the block buy proposal, Kendall said. No total cost numbers were discussed.

In total, the Pentagon plans to purchase 2,443 of the Lockheed Martin jets, with allied purchases bringing the total number of the jets produced to more than 3,100.

In the UK it is standard practice for companies to contribute at least the same amount that an employee
puts into a private pension. These contributions are also tax free.

Starting a couple of years ago, the government is forcing companies to deduct a percentage of pay and set up a private pension for those who do not want to voluntarily contribute.

There is also the use of labour from cheaper countries that can be utilised. I work in IT and some companies make use of labour from countries such as India for part of their IT function. Also as well as IT other functions are being moved to India at the company I work for. This is mainly a cost issue but also means that there is less of an issue with an aging population.
