Fire breaks out in Karachi's Millenium mall

KARACHI: A fire inside Millenium mall on Dalmia Road resulted in the building being evacuated on Wednesday, Express News reported.

The fire started in one shop and spread, but was brought under control before it could cause any injuries.

According to witnesses and shopkeepers at the scene, the building has been evacuated and no one is inside.

Rescue teams arrived and made their way into the building to ensure that no one is unconscious inside due to the large amount of smoke in the building.

Unidentified people tried to rob a money exchange shop. The police arrived, thwarting their efforts. The unidentified people ran away when police resorted to aerial firing.

The windows of some shops were also broken to let out the smoke that had filled inside.

Police are cordoning off the area to remove the hundreds of spectators that had gathered outside the mall.

KARACHI: A fire that broke out at a shopping mall on Dalmia Road has been brought under control, with no causalities, SAMAA reported.

Several shops at the basement and ground floor were gutted as fire erupted as a result of short-circuit at a shoe outlet in busy Millennium Mall located in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

The fire engulfed other nearby shops and the upper story within no time, however, fire fighters reached the scene and extinguished the blaze with nearly half a dozen fire tenders.

Police, Rangers and rescue teams safely evacuated the shoppers trapped inside the smoke-filled shopping mall. Fortunately there was no loss of life.

I dislike MQM leadership's fascist background, but really one must have standards. This is no way to blame just because you think that MQM is involved.
