Financing burden of CPEC

.
In coming days most countries will switch to renewable energy. And china is investing heavily on renewable energy around $360 billion. If china will not import oil then what will be the use of CPEC. And sea routes are always preferred over land route so china will continue using sea route for import/export. I think CPEC is dead.

genius.....

mods give him a positive rating...

so how many cars, aircraft and ships are running on solar power compared to oil these days?

.
After CPEC projects completion, we will have enough manufacturing plants to increase our exports and pay our debts in future. Nothing to worry.
After CPEC you see actually the dumping of cheap chinese product in your country, and all the best for your manufacturing unit to compete, forget exports.

NOyt as dead as your BRahmin dead brain cells

Not as dead as your Brhamin dead brain cells

OK. So why do you care so much ?
We are suffering from that dumping, inspite indian goverment putting anti dumping measure still our balance of trade is in huge deficit, once you open the gate for chinese through road network who will stop them.

YOu know what ! Please dont compare our exports with yours !

Regardless of deficit. You guys have proper Manufacturing base unlike here in pakistan which is dominated by few mafias ripping off customers with near 0 manufacturing base.

I am up for Chinese to come and wipe off all these local bastard industrialist who are just ripping off local consumers.

For instance just search up Mehran car and look the price they are charging !

Tesla is making great inroads into electric cars. Solar Panel efficiency is also on the rise. You never know, in 10 years, solar powered electric cars could be a real option. Right now, petrol is the best battery. But battery technology is improving too.

I am jealous because Balochistan is very resource rich, and China is getting all of it for peanuts. India should join this game. We can claim a share of Baloch resources too.

. . .
In 10 years, Hyundai, Suzuki and Honda will also have affordable electric cars. I will be able to afford one then.
In 10 years ? Suzuki is ripping you off iwth Mehran still, so Yes that possibility is quite far fetched at least for pak industry unless Chinese comes and takes over these bastards

The 'coming days' when we can do away with oil is probably 40-50 years away.

First of all, the real motivation for China is to get a navy base in Gwadar. They need that to deter US obstruction to their oil traffic over the Arabian sea. And I think China has a legitimate concern in this.

Secondly CPEC was never planned to carry the bulk of oil import into China. You are right in saying that shipping over water is much cheaper. And China will continue to import oil over sea for the most part. But in case shit goes down with US, they can use CPEC as a costlier but temporary alternative route. The overland freight rails that China sends to far away Europe via Central Asia is geared towards the same purpose.

Pakistan understands this of course. And in return for a navy base (and long term geo strategic alliance), China is offering them various sweeteners like those infra projects you hear about.

This is the big picture.

.
Why are we forgetting that CPEC is not just about moving things inside China but also exporting stuff FROM China. Oil is just one part of whole thing. Even if there is no oil then still China is exporting its stuff to ME etc via CPEC and in return importing what it needs. Main point is that duration of cargo travel had been reduced.

Talking about loans then if at all CPEC is all about loan then howcome our debt does not show all the money China has so called "Loaned" us? Also its not only China but many other countries are already set to join this project so rest U are more than able to do the math.

Thanks for the reply. Where exactly did I say that CPEC won't be used for chinese exports?

I'm a big supporter of CPEC by the way, but I know with or without CPEC, Pakistan will succeed, I view CPEC as a manifestation of our success

.
It is hard to say what will be the consequences of CPEC on Pakistan economy. On one hand, CPEC will add growth to Pakistan economy on the other hand there will also be an increase of debt burden on Pakistan. CPEC would have been a great thing for Pakistan if it were an investment than debt.

.
Actually so far Chinese has Directly Invested in CPEC that is FDI but they are promised a 17 percent return on Dollars term on their investments and that might cause a huge payment problem in future. If Chinese bribe Pakistanis officials into making false FDI claims and start getting 17 percent returns on money which they have never invested then you will be screwed.

So when U invest then U get returns too. And we might have corruption but things arnt so bizarre that we get to pay returns for what we didnt get and Chinese arnt mean to mint money from us just like that.

Bro the point highlighted in discussion was Chinese oil imports and it more like seemed that impression was given that CPEC is mainly for Chinese oil imports and that prompted be to give my peace of mind. Thank U for a humble reply.
