- Kathua police station attack: 3 security personnel, 1 terrorist killed
NEW DELHI: The latest reports suggest that three security personnel and one terrorist has been killed in the cross firing between the security forces and terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir's Kathua district.
Three militants had attacked Rajbagh police station in Jammu & Kashmir early on Friday morning. According to the reports, they used automatic weapons and hurled grenades at the police station.
Security forces have been rushed to the spot and the operation is still underway. Jammu-Pathankote highway has been closed as a precautionary measure.
According to earlier reports, 9 people were injured in the firing that took place. These included 7 CRPF personnel, one policeman and one civilian.
Times Now reported that these were Laskar suicide sqad terrorists.
Home minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the J&K Police DGP and heads of the other agencies to assess the situation. He has instructed the home secretary to "actively moniter the situation."
According to the reports, these attacks are considered planned one by the police. Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah also supported this thought in his tweets.
