The Federal Government is pursuing a comprehensive plan for uplift on the socio-economic standard of the people of tribal areas.
According to official sources‚ the government has launched work on construction of stage-I of Kurram Tangi Dam including Kaitu Weir Irrigation and Power Component in North Waziristan Agency.
The first stage of the dam will be constructed with an estimated cost of 12.662 billion rupees within two years.
It will irrigate 16‚380 acres agriculture land in addition to hydel generation of about 19 megawatt.
USAID will provide a grant of 81 million dollars to WAPDA for construction of the Stage-I of Kurram Tangi Dam Project.
